But outside of 2004 he probably was always in the top 5 easily, maybe even the top 3. His four years from 2005-2008 gave him the longevity of a premiere whipping boy on this site. I remember when I first came on here Jose Valentin was a whipping boy in 2004.

I'll say this, when Uribe took over 3rd base in 2008 I think a lot of people started to appreciate him, 1 because he did a phenomenal job, 2 because we knew it was his last year. I used to b**** about Juan Uribe a lot, they way you b**** about any player, but he was also one of my favorite players of the decade.

Uribe was extremely streaky this year, as he always is. He carried the Sox for a few stretches during his tenure here. Right now, he's streaky at the right time, maybe something he learned from Joe Crede..

Those home run jazz-hands look good in the World Series though.

Definitely wanted Uribe gone, but I loved him at the same time. It was his ability to strikeout in fantastical ways that made me wish he was gone, but something about the guy made me love him anyway. I do cop to ushering him out the door, though.

Good on 'im, I've been rooting for him and Lincecum all postseason.

Also, for the record, I was never a "Rowand is God!" guy, and I haven't been since he left, either. Liked him, never loved him.

The shocking thing about Uribe was he really didn't strike out all that much.

It wasn't how much he struck out, it was how awful he looked while doing it. It made it so that I couldn't have any faith in his at-bats unless he was on one of his patented monster tears.

Also, I think there were a lot of buffet jokes at Uribe's expense. Not Bartolo Colon-like levels, but some. I miss those. We need to sign someone morbidly obese.

I certainly wasn't one of those who wanted Uribe gone, especially with who we got now on third...I'm happy for him and I hope he gets a second WS ring.

Uribe was probably all around the best SS, the best 2B and best 3B the Sox have had in a very long time. At least up until the last four months of 2010 when Alexei really stepped it up at SS anyway.

When Uribe gets hot he can be very productive. It looks like he is. Gotta get him in the lineup. He may win them the Series. I still root for him and Rowand individually although I would like Texas to win.

Same here. I want Texas to win but I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Uribe and Rowand get another ring, so it's kind of a win-win for me.

Yeah, Uribe was maddening with us. Like him, but he drove people nuts.

When you watch a lotta games like many do on here, doesn't just about every player drive ya crazy at some point?

We could almost go down the entire roster.

Have to agree on that one. Even during the midst of numerous 40+ HR and 100+ RBI seasons, whenever he would have one of those slumps or even so much as have a bad at bat some people would get vicious. It's in our nature to b****, I suppose. But I haven't ragged on Konerko once in my tenure here to my recollection.
