November 24, 201015 yr QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) With holes at C, 1B, 3B and RF, you have to try some cheap stuff in the bullpen. Pretty pathetic that we can't develop one f***ing bullpen arm from within. We have to continually trade for or sign failures in hopes that sir coop can fix 'em. Yay.
November 25, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 10:45 AM) A small part of my soul, assuming I have one, dies whenever I hear the phrase " maybe coop can fix 'em?" This guy is a scrub and won't have any impact whatsoever for the Sox. Don't worry about it, Coop can fix souls too.
November 25, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) Pretty pathetic that we can't develop one f***ing bullpen arm from within. We have to continually trade for or sign failures in hopes that sir coop can fix 'em. Yay. For having such a pathetic bullpen philosophy, we weren't half bad last year. Interestingly, I'd much rather have someone else's somewhat-proven bullpen arms than try to bring people up from the minors, since BP arms are so often failed SP arms and low-round draft picks. EDIT: Additionally, Sergio Santos says hello, as he was completely developed as a pitcher from within. Edited November 25, 201015 yr by ScottyDo

We have to continually trade for or sign failures in hopes that sir coop can fix 'em. Yay. Even worse: we can't develop the position players. I'd goive Morel a shot, but nobody else is even close to being ready to start in the MLB. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 07:01 PM) Don't worry about it, Coop can fix souls too.

November 28, 201015 yr Coop has nothing to fix. scottmerkin RHP Waldis Joaquin, claimed off release waivers by the White Sox from the Giants, has rejected the claim and declared free agency 9 minutes ago
November 28, 201015 yr QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) Coop has nothing to fix. I miss him already
November 28, 201015 yr QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) Coop has nothing to fix. Just another guy rejecting a trade to the Sox. Delgado, Edmonds, Peavy, Berkman, now Joaquin... the list goes on.
November 28, 201015 yr QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) Coop has nothing to fix. Later dude.
November 28, 201015 yr Clearly, Waldis' contributions to this team were invaluable, but both parties recognized that it was time to move on. He made the right choice.
November 28, 201015 yr QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) Anybody want to buy a Joaquin jersey for cheap? I made a horrible mistake... What color is it?

November 29, 201015 yr QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) What color is it? Black alternate with a 2011 World Series patch. I may have been a tad overzealous.
November 29, 201015 yr What people forget about Waldis is his intangibles. He was a great clubhouse guy and one of those guys who was never going to make his impact on the field. Instead, Waldis took it upon himself not to make a fuss over his apparent unwillingness to play for the White Sox. I will never forget him.
November 29, 201015 yr You have to admit, the guy gave up NOTHING during his time with us. You can't get much better than that. 0 WHIP 0 ERA...

If M Night M. Night Shyamalan made a film about Waldis Joaquin’s tenure as a White Sox it would be called Untouchable and it would be an awful, awful film.

I'm sure it would have a crazy twist ending like "But then he decided not to accept the claim!"

November 29, 201015 yr It'd probably be set in Communist Russia. The plot would revolve around how everyone is controlled by the government and they decide where these people work and what they do, but in the end, it turns out that the people themselves are the government and they choose where they end up. Oh, and the country is run by a zombie Stalin, and Waldis comes in at the end of the movie and kills him with a spear.
November 29, 201015 yr It's a good thing i wrote all this Waldis Joaquin material years ago. I never thought i'd be able to use it, but it's testament to always being prepared.
