2011 Films Thread

OK, so it was you who got me interested in seeing it. It was queued up for a while, so I forgot if Netflix was suggesting it or if someone told me about it.

I saw Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark last night. I thought it was really good, and that's coming from a guy who thinks horror movies are generally garbage. It had the proper buildup and didn't rely on shock moments. Del Toro held up his reputation with this one, I'd say. The guys I saw it with seemed to like it as well, specifically referring to it as original in the sense of scary movies you see now.

If you have seen the original how does the remake stack up?

Along with Salem's Lot and the Karen Black Trilogy of Terror, it is one of my fond childhood horror movie memories.

I do like Nick Swardson, but this just looks out there

I can't believe that Ed Hermann would be in that movie.

The guy had a continuous role on Gilmore Girls, there isnt much that is beneath him

I realize that this is a 2011 films thread but I just have to say that if the ending to Higher Learning doesn't leave you crying real tears, then you--Sir or Madame--are no kin of mine.

Encore should have warned me.

I think this looks like it could be pretty good. Definitely an interesting concept

Kind of random movie suggestion, but I stumbled upon this movie "Charlotte" on Hulu last night.

Basically it's a movie about a guy that is building his own sailboat for his friends and family. He also happens to run a shipyard on Martha's Vineyard that repairs/restores/builds wooden sailboats. If you're at all into woodworking, I think you'll really enjoy it and appreciate what he and his employees can build.

Saw Our Idiot Brother last night. It was alright. Not hilarious but it had some good moments.

Unstoppable...meh

The American...meh...but, Violante Placido...YOWZERS!

I was excited when I saw it was getting good reviews but it turned out to be one of the most cliched action movies in the last 5 years.

Why would anyone think making a sequel to ghost rider was a good idea?

It made pretty good money in the overseas markets.

Chuck Norris, Joel Edgerton, and Jean Claude Van Damme confirmed for The Expendables 2

Tucker and Dale vs Evil was awesome. One of my favorites this year.

Apollo 18 was horrendous.

Another great family film is just around the corner. Read the short plot synopsis.
