I have to admit though... the coldest I've ever been at a game was the Blackout game in 2008, and I didn't mind that at all. That game was EPIC.

October 23rd, 2005 for me. Didn't feel a damn thing once the game started though.

I can understand why people would want a retractable roof but baseball indoors is just f***in weird to me. I've been to a couple Brewers games with the roof closed and it had such an odd feeling to it.

Anyways, looking back I can't believe how ugly the Cell was when it first opened. I didn't care at all back than cause I was going to watch the Sox play but looking back, that place was just fugly. Now, it's an absolutely beautiful park, love it.

I was there at the very first game. The whole 16-0 debacle. I remember it vividly. Park has changed for the better over the years, that's for sure.

The bleachers were brutal. Metal benches at a major league park... really?

I unfortunately had to grow up with the new Comiskey as the only Sox park I knew. The biggest non baseball attraction as a kid was the outdoor shower, where you could go under to cool off.

I remember a few fans sitting next to us one game and they were traveling across the states going to a ton of ballparks, and they we're just like Comiskey is "meh, it's a ballpark and that's it."

1991 Comiskey is a VERY different park then 2011 US Cellular. The changes they have made make the park a completely different experience, and I love it.

IMO U.S. Cellular should have had a retractable dome from the get go. Imagine how nice it would be to go to games when during crappy weather like we've been having. I would go to MANY more games if the stadium had a roof. It's working for Miller Park.

Comiskey was built before the retractable roof fad. Back then it was crazy expensive to add a retractable to a stadium, the price has come down, but it is still not cheep.

Additionally, baseball should be played outside during the summer. I only like domes/retractable roofs if they are in a climates like Texas, Florida, and even a northern city like Minneapolis.

bear weather.

That's ludicrous. I would kill for a retractable roof at this point. I have been prepared to go to 2 more sox games already this year, but I just refuse to go when it's 40 degrees and sleeting.

Ironically, my stance on Football stadiums is the opposite of baseball. I think northern football stadiums SHOULD have retractable roof to protect from the bitter cold, while southern ones should be open air.

Oh, well that's obvious. I would have been out there in the cold and rain too for that game. I get chill bumps when I see the Konerko grand slam and Podsednik walk off when I watch it on DVD. I couldn't imagine being there. You lucky dog. :notworthy

Yeah but I'd choose feeling weird over freezing my balls off in the spring.

It's hard to convince Cub fans, but I still think going to U.S. Cellular is a MUCH better experience than going to Wrigley.

I think that was Opening Day 2003, and that was probably the worst baseball experience I've ever had. My wife and I left about an hour into the rain delay, when the rain began to fall harder. As we were walking down the upper deck ramps, the wind picked up and it began thundering and lightning. By the time we got to the car, it took me about 15 seconds to open the door because I could barely move my fingers. After then getting stuck in rush hour, we finally made it up to the north side and watched the game with friends up at Goose Island.

That game was awesome, they served beer for like 6 hours.
