Soptic seems to have pretty solid mechanics, or at least nothing that looks like he will have injury problems. Not thrilled that he projects to be a reliever, but if he is coming out of the pen, maybe he can maintain that 100 MPH cheese.

Just want to point out that touching and maintaining a velocity are completely different things. Maybe pro coaches can get this guy to stick around 96 consistently, but we shouldn't expect more than that. He has plus velocity, let's not go thinking he's going to hit 100 on a regular basis. Also, the 100 report came from him JuCo and not a scouting service.

Any requests positionally or player type here in the 4th round? I'm thinking the Sox will go position player here, but I don't have a good reason why.

I wonder why Noe Ramirez is still available?

I just meant that if he could touch 100 as a start, maybe he could stay in that area if he is a reliever. Either way, anything over 95 is great.

Sox take RHP Kyle McMillen, Kent St.

"Maintaining" it is always less of a concern for a reliever. If he's a pitcher that throws in the mid to upper 90's, that's reasonable for the 3rd round.

Kyle McMillen RHP Kent State 6'2" 200 lbs

Running on pitchers after the first round. Can't say that's a mistake.

Gotta say how much I love the rapid fire MLB draft. As a prospect geek and a fan of college baseball this is how it should be. None of that 4 hours for 60 picks crap.

There you go, dirty.

Would've been cool to draft Now Ramirez right there, born on the exact same day.

Why must the Sawx take the prospects I like?

Not complaining about the pick, but very few guys are able to touch even 98 as relievers. If this guy can sit 96, even out of the pen, he's got elite velocity. No need to put out unrealistic expectations on him.

BA has McMillen 94 overall, first "value" pick thus far. i've actually been pretty pleased with the sox pitcher selections thus far

Especially since there aren't trades and the teams clearly knew who they were taking well within the allotted time yesterday but seemingly were forced to wait until time expired to make their picks.

So do they White Sox pick Ozney?

Where is he rated at, out of curiosity?

Hence why I said "Mid to upper 90's".

White Sox must like that Kent St. RHP Kyle McMillen slipped to fourth round. was projected by BA to go in 1st 3 rounds.

#KentStateP Kyle McMillen taken 141st overall by the #WhiteSox. He created a ton of buzz over the weekend at the Austin Regional. #mlbdraft

So it seems that the Sox have draft a good crop of pitchers so far.

I don't think so save for Soptic.
