Toews gettin some jokes/partial hate for this.

that's pretty funny. You can tell he pulled up, like he was just going to give the kid a bump, but the kid totally went over.

Toews needs to grow up. He isn't representing the organization very well with s*** like this. It's embarrassing.

Wow. You're correct, skating around with a bunch of kids for PR is exactly what the organization should avoid. Accidents never happen, and clearly Toews is a Satan-worshiping, child-checking pit stain on this franchise.

That was a total shot at anyone who talked down about Kane's off of the ice stupidity.

Assuming the kid was ok and we all know it was an accident. How f***ing cool would it be to say you were checked and run over by John Toews.

Ah. Sarcasm detector failed on me.

He’s baaaaack.

A spokesman for Jerry Reinsdorf told the Arizona Republic on Thursday what those close to the agonizing sale of the Phoenix Coyotes have been saying for months – he is back in the picture.

Reinsdorf’s caddy, Republican political rainmaker John Kaites, is handling sales talks with the NHL and arena-lease negotiations with the city of Glendale. Something else those close to the sale have said all along is that Reinsdorf was always the NHL’s preferred bidder. We’re sure the fact the NHL hired Kaites as some sort of consultant a while back is merely a coincidence.

Also part of the group is veteran NHL executive Tony Tavares. He is currently the caretaker president of the Dallas Stars but will be leaving that post once Tom Gaglardi buys the NHL team.

Pardon us for losing count of Reinsdorf’s latest comeback, as he is the Brett Favre of hockey-team buyers, but the Republic has all of the grisly details.

As always, it is not clear who will be picking up the annual losses on the Coyotes, which are north of $20-million (all currency U.S.) in a good year but it is a sure bet it won’t be Reinsdorf. He’s only shown interest in the past when the city agreed to cover the losses in some fashion or another.

However, Glendale officials assured the Republic the latest go-round with the owner of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and Major League Baseball’s Chicago White Sox will not involve the sale of municipal bonds. That was what prompted the Goldwater Institute, a public watchdog group, to sink a deal with Chicago businessman Matthew Hulsizer.

Glendale is also negotiating with a group led by Greg Jamison, who was once president of the San Jose Sharks. The only problem is, if that group has someone with real money it is being kept secret.

The NHL has a deadline of Dec. 31 for someone who is willing to keep the Coyotes in Glendale to buy the team from the league. Otherwise, the league will allow a buyer to move it to another city.

Fantasy hockey names anyone? Mine is currently "Honey Nut Chelios", but I am considering a change to "Boats and Toews"

I tried to watch the Hawks game last night, but it was almost as bad preseason football. Carcillo looked like a 1st-liner out there.

I don't if anyone is using our season tickets tonight, but I sure as hell don't have much of an urge to go.

I simply went with "Ron Swanson".

That Brandon Saad kid is fun to watch. Might turn out to be one of the biggest steals in that entire 2011 draft.

If he keeps it up, there's a chance he can make the squad as an 18 year old.

While prepping the house for our Bears party yesterday I had a random Penguins game on, and they did a nice little feature on Saad given he's from western PA. I doubt he makes the club initially, but it's always entertaining to see someone like him play so well so surprisingly while wastes like Kyle Beach never improve or show any flash.

Toews and Confused

Oh that's brilliant. I might have to steal that.

Patrick Kane might start the season as a center, according to Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville.

"We might try Kane at center," Quenneville said. "He's been playing center throughout scrimmages and practices now. We'll see." Quenneville isn't worried about Kane's ability to handle the defensive responsibilities that come with the position. We'll keep you posted.

Weird.

Weird.

Incredibly stupid. Besides passing, what part of his game screams center? Draws? Maybe he can win 30% if he's lucky. Defensive responsibilities? Yikes.

Everyone can play center in Q's world.

It's probably a good idea to have him in on faceoffs with that injured wrist too.

The Kane at center thing is a ploy (to motivate Kruger to play better or the front office to trade for a center), or something they'll only do for a couple/few games. Q isn't stupid, he won't do that longer than maybe a week.

Well, the player people compare his passing and puck skills most to is the Great One. IIRC he played a bit of center. They are pretty close in defensive point shares. He was a career +20, Kaner is currently a +16.

Obviously they arent going to be close to the same player, but maybe the coaching staff thinks that his ability to create shots for teammates will be more valuable at the center position. He already leads the break from that spot anyway.

Not the mid 80's anymore. He can pass, I'm aware, but his defense is awful, he's too soft to play the middle of the ice, and he won't win faceoffs. It won't last, so I'm not worried, but it's not a good fit. Trying to check the other line's center and help out below the dots would be a nightmare.

This is the truth.

Playing Kane at C in the preseason is silly.

Doing it in the regular season would be asinine.

I know you're not supposed to speak this way about "The Great One", but Wayne Gretzky at center in the NHL now wouldn't be great. Or even good. And Patrick Kane is no Wayne Gretzky.
