Reclamation Projects

Featured Replies

I'd like to see the Sox sign Scott Kazmir as a reclamation project. He fits the criteria that Williams uses and the Sox rotation should have openings. Those openings and Cooper's reputation might make the Sox the preferred destination for starting pitchers who need to bounce back.

It is 12:56 PM Chicago time. And somebody just suggested that the White Sox sign Scott Kazmir.

I'd do it on a minor league deal. That's about it.

I'd rather sign Casimir Pulaski's corpse.

I'd go with any White Sox pitching prospect over Kazmir. Kazmir is so done it's not funny.

This. All though from the sounds of it, he is done.

The idea of a reclamation project for a guy who was released mid-season is to sign him to a minor league contract.

Once he has whatever surgery he needs I'd consider it. If he doesn't need surgery, then no, because that means the velocity drop was "real". And maybe driven by other things in his system.

Oof.

Kaz is borken.

Ian Stewart is a guy that could use a change of scenery. If you are going into rebuilding he is the kind of guy you take a chance on, and if he gets it back, you can trade him for other pieces to help expediate the process of stocking the farm system. The Rockies are looking for a LF, getting Stewart as a throw in as part of a CQ trade would be a victory.

How about this: rumor is the Mets will non-tender Angel Pagan. If CQ is traded, we could go with Pagan, Viciedo, and Rios/De Aza.

I dont really want Pagan taking at bats from De Aza or Viciedo. I think a more interesting proposition with the Mets is swapping Rios for Bay. Rios would be more valuable in the NL especially since the Mets have lost Beltran and likely Pagan. The money owed is roughly the same if you figure in Bays buyout. It clears space for the Mets to give FMart a full season shot in LF and lets the Sox get the bad salary after two years instead of three. Not sure what the Mets opinion of Bay is now, but they were really down on him at mid-season. If Bay cant return to form you have a $32M platoon DH as your biggest risk.

Rockies are looking for starting pitching. They would overpay for someone like Danks. We could probably start with Seth Smith, a solid corner outfielder who hits .280 +, decent power, runs well, hustles. He would help the Sox. Otherwise, we trade Danks in July -- no telling what his value would be then.

Not like we haven't done this type of thing before. Not sure he has anything left, but stranger things have happened

Adam Dunn

Too soon?

Joel Zumaya..

News: Zumaya (elbow) played catch at about 90 feet earlier this week, the Tigers' official site reports. (Sun Sep 11)

Spin: Zumaya has been sidelined all season after undergoing exploratory surgery on his right elbow during spring training. Instead of focusing on this year, look for Zumaya to concentrate his efforts on returning to full strength for next season. The 26-year-old reliever will be a free agent this offseason.

I don't think Zumaya has any chance at ever staying healthy again without the aid of PEDs

No matter what's wrong with Kazmir, it would still be impossible for me to get upset at the thought of him wearing a Charlotte Knights jersey. Hell, stranger things have happened in the game of baseball, and a guy like him turning into even an effective lefty specialist would be a huge gain because (at least in theory) it would allow us to ditch Ohman and his salary.

Will Ohman gets a whopping $2.5 million this season. Moving his salary really doesn't do much of anything to change anything. Would be acceptable to move him if there was a player coming back (I still don't know how the Yankees didn't deal for him).

With Sale back in the rotation and Thornton probably getting traded, Wil the Thril is going no where.

So you'd be against signing Kazmir to a minor league deal, why????

What about with Colon's butt fat?

Season FA-Vel

2007 92.4

2008 91.8

2009 91.2

2010 90.6

2011 86.8

He's either hurt or he's off something. I don't want to pay for his surgery and I don't want him if he's on something.

If he were to come in and clock 93 on a radar gun, fine.

Are you suggesting ingestion, injection, or surgical attachment?

Because I think all 3 are viable.

Sure, if they involve stem cells...
