Caufield,

The idea is quite simple. It's easier to find an outfielder than it is a starting pitcher. A team like Atlanta that has pitching depth might be more willing to give up one of its prospects for Viciedo than it would be for Quentin.

I can't believe you can constantly slam Kenny, but your solution is to demolish the team.

That's why I hate the "rebuilding" people.

A lot of them think rebuilding means totally demolishing the team.

That won't cut it in Chicago. Sox have to try to compete/win.

The longer the team on the north side thinks "Rebuilding won't cut it in Chicago" the worse off they'll be.

Why the team on the north side? They're the ones drawing 3 million a year, not the team on the south side.

JMO...the team on the North Side has less talent on the field and in the system, with more money invested to get there.

Possibly, but they've shown a much greater ability to generate revenues with mediocre or bad products on the field than the White Sox have, which is likely what you'd be enduring during any rebuild.

Which means...for the North Side team in particular...rebuilding will cut it in Chicago.

The team on the south side...rebuilding is a lot riskier in terms of revenue loss.

If the Sox rebuild they're going to stink for at least a few years. If the Sox don't rebuild they may bounce back a little next year but by 2013 or 14 at the latest they will be looking at a future comparable to what the Royals and Pirates have experienced for decades.

Well that's what I was referring to...I guess something got lost in translation.

Lets trade Viciedo and Alexei...it'll help, just trust me.

You're sarcasm meter is clearly broken.

Who do you get in return?

A top 5 ss and a premium of prospect.

A top 5 ss and a premium of prospect.

Not a whole lot of top 5 SS's available for trade as far as I can tell.

Am I really the only one reading his posts as sarcasm?? It seemed like he blatantly just called Alexei a top 5 SS and Viciedo a top prospect...

Why would you make that deal?

And they both are.

I know, that's why he said that's what he would trade them for. I thought it was clear that his first post was sarcastic, then when Marty didn't get it he followed it up with more sarcasm by pointing out how valuable they are.

Because you'd be trading for Alexei and Viciedo.

I tried to trade them for Fidel Castro's brother.

If you trade Ramirez and Viciedo the target should be grade A pitching prospects.
