I wonder if players had their attorneys review the books and do due diligence on their ability to pay out these contracts. If I was Pujols attorney I would have definitely told him that $250mil from Moreno is much more likely to be paid than $287 from Loria. I think A-Rod lost money due to the Texas bk.

This is what the agents of Mark and Jose did as a result of the team refusing to offer no trade clauses. The more backloaded those contracts are, the more difficult it will be to trade the player.

A-rod gets his money. The Rangers sold for close to 600 million. More than enough to satify the secured and unsecured(like a-rod) creditors.
