2011-2012 NBA Season Thread

Contractions are difficult. I will cry all I want, by the way. This is the most deflating injury in Chicago sports history as far as I'm concerned.

That would actually be a great topic. There would be some interesting competition, that's for sure. You could throw out Jay Williams bike adventures to start with.

Or Jay Cutlah's injury when you guys were on the cusp of a super bowl.

And that is the type of s*** I cant stand (And Im not even talking about your stupid grammar comment, I dont use contractions while posting on message boards, I dont waste my time worrying about internet grammar police.), sure it sucks Rose is injured, but posting "depressed" every other hour is just annoying to read. I do sincerely apologize for not wallowing in pity and crying about how everything is lost. That just isnt me, it wont ever be me.

You pick up the pieces, you move on.

I'm depressed about the Derrick Rose injury. Given the scope and hope for this year's team, it ruined sports for me for a bit. It makes me sad. I know you don't consider yourself a huge NBA fan, so maybe that's why you don't really understand how incredibly huge this injury was. If he pulls his groin again, ok, you shelve him for the series.

Having an entire season wasted by an injury that might threaten Rose's career is just awful. I'll b**** about it all I want. I will also b**** about you and your "If the Bulls just start hitting their shots with more consistency, they will score more" type of posts!

I probably just need to avoid the thread until the Bulls are unceremoniously removed from this tournament, as I'm admittedly not adding anything.

"If the Bulls just start hitting their shots with more consistency, they will score more" type of posts!

Show me where I have said that?

You posted "depressed", I was trying to put an optimistic spin on where the Bulls were in the 2nd quarter. It was a comment on the game as it progressed. What else should I have said "Oh the 76ers are going to shoot 60% this game book it!" that is nonsensical. It was a comment on the game, I used statistics, not "If the 76ers miss more shots than the Bulls make the Bulls will win." Notice how my statement had FACTS. Its completely different.

I dont even know where you come off with this nonsense.

As for the rest, over the last few years I have made a conscious effort to not get down over teams losing that I have no control over.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 2, 2012 -> 12:03 PM)
Well Steve the 76ers shot considerably higher than their average, sure some of it was fast breaks, but overall they were just really hot.

At the time I posted that it was still in the first half and it seemed as if the 76ers would cool down and the Bulls would start to take over (they did go into the half leading), after the half, the Bulls just got blitzed in the 3rd (happened against the 76ers on Feb 2 as well) and the 76ers just refused to cool down.

It was merely a comment at the time of the game. Most NBA teams will lose if the other team shoots close to 60%.

And now we know, and knowing is half the battle.

So I posted 3 paragraphs and you take 1 sentence out of it.

What are you even trying to prove, the argument was that I was making 1 line sentence posts that anyone can say.

Its just not true.

(edit)

The sentence you bolded was merely a conclusion to the post. Its not like I merely posted:

If a team shoots 60% theyll win.

Without any other explanation or discussion.

Oh, and I've just learned Tyson Chandler has won DPOY. Yes, I was wrong about the Knicks overall. But I had solid reasoning for thinking they could be elite. Tyson was one of them. If Carmelo doesn't shoot 38% for nearly 40 games, and if Amare doesn't have easily the worst year of his career, I could've very well been right.

And if Linsanity hadn't happened, they'd be in the lottery. It works both ways, especially since we saw last year that Melo/Amare don't seem to work well together.

That's normally the idea.

If only someone had told me this before I got into broadcasting.

This is, unfortunately, what most sports radio and in-game commentary seems to break down to.

Well, I thought NY/Miami would be competitive. The Heat have officially flipped the switch.

I'm a bit surprised how easily they are taking care of NY to be honest. They'll be tougher challengers up the road for Miami but the way LBJ is playing, he's gonna be tough to beat...oh and Miami's D is the best in the NBA playoffs right now.

Vinsanity!

The Heat played like s*** tonight. New York just plain sucks.

It's their defense. That's what's most impressive. The offense is going to come and go. But if you don't have a good perimeter shooting team (Dallas last year), you're just not going to score a sufficient amount of points consistently.

Really? Pacers? Hawks? Is there any non-disney made for TV scenario in which they don't get to the finals? I was thinking maybe Boston. But they need a no-doubt-about-it 100% Ray Allen to pull that off.

Edited by Jordan4life

The Pacers are better than the Knicks.
