It was a pretty good environment. The Minnesota/Wisconsin game definitely had more fans than the ND/Miami game, though Miami had a pretty good contingent. It appeared a lot of fans came for only one of the games, which is understandable.

Wrong. Overall attendance was 52,000+ for the day. It was actually a pretty good amount of people there, especially for the second game. I didn't know what to expect going in, but it was a pretty good turnout, actually more than I expected. There were a ton of fans from all 4 teams involved, but a real nice amount of just plain old hockey fans with no allegiance there to take it in. You had a Hawks game going on at the same time, which took some away as well.

Definitely something I hope they do again, or perhaps it serves as a test-run for the Hawks taking the next Winter Classic there, which would be 10x better than Wrigley as far as # of tickets available, sightlines, parking/tailgating, amenities, etc.

I think the one thing that kinda kills Wrigley is the lack of a big scoreboard to show replays and stuff. With baseball you don't really care, but when I've seen other things there it's just strange not to have some media playing. Otherwise I've had fun at the "friendly at the confines" stuff, because if you can get seats near the infield you are right on top of it, and it's pretty special.

Ho-hum. Another day, another two points. Can the playoffs just start already?

At this rate we should clinch a birth by March.

Going to the Hockey City Classic tomorrow at Soldier Field. Should be solid.

Did you go to both games?

I only went to the Wisconsin- Minnesota game. As you said the attendance was 50k+ which is huge for college hockey. Part of the reason it looked empty was that I do not believe a lot of people went to both games. When we were arriving Miami-ND fans were all leaving.

The result was obviously odd, Minnesota is considerably better than Wisconsin this year, but Ill take the win.

Yeah, went to both.

Minnesota absolutely dominated most of the game, I think the shots ended 38-19 too. Few good bounces for Wisconsin and they were up 3-0. It also was tough because the ice was getting worse as the game went on. 1st period was fine, but 2nd and 3rd, the south zone was pretty bad. It was period 5 and 6 of the day so it was to be expected.

Is that why they switched ends during the middle of the 3rd?

2 games on 1 day is probably pushing it.

Basically. ND had the option in the first game but didn't take it.

Probably, but they tried to make it worth everyone's time and effort. Players and coaches realize the ice won't be pristine and just deal with it. You game plan a bit differently and you could see guys making safer plays as it went on. I'm not sure how much was affected by the sun earlier in the day softening it up too.

I'm hoping the Gophers win it this year. Haula and Rau have been lighting it up, and Bjugstad's been Bjugstad. They're just a deep team. Wilcox has looked god in net for a freshman, too.

I wonder what Florida would want for Weiss. This is no chemistry to mess with it, I understand, but Bolland just is not a 2C and would make a helluva checking line with Frolik and Shaw once the playoffs come around. Maybe Stalberg, Pirri and a pick for Weiss?

Saad Toews Hossa

Kane Weiss Sharp

Shaw Bolland Frolik

Bickell Kruger Mayers/Bollig

I do, however, always get wary of trading for Panthers or guys from non-hockey markets. You never know how they might react from no pressure and 12k at each of your games to #1 seed in the West and 21k at all of your games.

What history/record is there to be made, please share.

Most consecutive games to start a season without a regulation loss. The record is 16, which the Hawks could tie tonight. (Anaheim set in 06-07, when they won the Cup)

And hopefully it is their big mouths that gets their asses kicked.

Seabrook is out tonight (day-to-day), wonder if it has to do with the puck to the "midsection".

I went to the Miami game and left before the second one.

Schneider in net tonight, kinda bummed we won't get a solid Luongo chant. Guess the Hawks just have to score 5 in the first to force a goalie change.

Hossa is so awesome. I loved the 4 on 4 with Toews and Hossa versus the Sedins.

Blatant elbow to Hossas head. Wow.

Great, hopefully Hoss is OK

So close.. welp, record still there!
