chisoxfan09
Haven't seen anything recent on Morel posted so thought I would put up this quick blurb by MGon of the Trib: Link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,1829688.story By Mark Gonzales, Chicago Tribune reporter 8:58 p.m. CDT, June 17, 2012 LOS ANGELES — Instead of visiting his teammates this weekend, third baseman Brent Morel stayed 110 miles north of Dodger Stadium to embark on a lower-back rehabilitation program with the hope he can rejoin the White Sox at the start of the second half. "That would be the goal," Morel said from his Bakersfield, Calif., home Morel hasn't played since June 7, when recurring discomfort in his lower back caused him to suspend his minor league rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Charlotte after nine games. Morel hasn't played for the Sox since May 17 because of back discomfort that surfaced late in spring training. After visiting a back specialist last week in Southern California, Morel said he was placed on a program for four to five weeks. He said he could incorporate baseball work during the latter stages of the program if he makes progress. "It's a program for my glutes and core area, essentially to take pressure off my back," Morel said. Morel was batting .267 (8-for-30) during his rehab stint with the Knights. He is batting .177 in 113 at-bats with the Sox as the pain has harnessed his swing, especially on outside pitches

Kyyle23
We have seen this before, I'm not really hopeful about the end result.
Jake
If this is a problem from muscle imbalance, that's an inexcusable oversight from S&C/medical staff. That isn't hard to diagnose and doesn't take 4 weeks to treat if you find it early.
ChiliIrishHammock24
I've heard they think he may have some disease too, because he was losing a ton of weight I guess. They think he may have developed Glutton/Wheat allergies or something. I heard this all on The Score a week or two ago.

Yeah that was weird but apparently solved, he said he had gained most of his weight back before he even went back to Charlotte

Sounds like the team has pretty much written him off. Sad, but this is the Crede thing all over again. He's done.

"It's not celiac disease, but it's just a sensitivity to wheat," Morel said. "I have to eat gluten-free, but actually I finally have been able to keep (some weight) on. I went into spring training at 220 (pounds), and I'm back up to 215 right now. For right now, I just have to have a gluten-free diet, and so far it seems to be OK as we go forward." There is no timetable for Morel to return from the back problems.

Our third baseman of the future is back at his home in California and it's not even the all star break. There are no plans to have him return. This is horrific news. I think he's finished. He's on his own right now.

Horrific is reserved for disasters like tsunamis, terrorist attacks, nuclear meltdowns and plane crashes. The White Sox will continue to field teams with a 3B. And it will be very challenging for anyone playing the position to put up a worse OPS than what we've gotten for the first 2 1/2 months. Greg, I'm not quite sure if you were aware of what an absolute statement is. Your first statement is an absolute, your second one is an opinion. I'm not necessarily picking on you because you're most definitely not the only one who does this, but it drives me, and apparently others, nuts when someone presents something as an absolute when it is only their opinion. This is how a person gets percieved as a "know it all".
justBLAZE
Is there anything wrong with US Cellular infield? I mean any other teams 3B have similar issues or just coincidence?

The goal is to get him back by the break.
