shields is the guy I have wanted us to target all along.. i hope Rock and Bucket are on to something.. pleaseee

Def. sounds like they are inferring something. I would be pleased with James after looking up some of his stats Last year the guy was nasty. But unlike ZG, I don't think we have much the Rays would want. I think a deal with Tampa likely means the end of Tank on the southside. And I wouldn't give tank up for anyone than the King himself.

Hey, it was my idea.

That is a delusional statement.

LOL okay.

Saying the only player you'd trade "Tank" for is "The King" is the very definition of a delusional statement.

Seems that way. Here's hoping.

Uh, Shields would certainly be cheaper than Greinke - and under control for 9 mill next year and 12 mill the year after. I hope Shields is the true target.

See, I would classify that as being delusional.

What would it take to get Shields? Would Viciedo or Reed be involved?

That is a delusional statement.

And you are vastly underrating Tank and overrating Shields. Shields may ultimately end up the better player but Tank has him by the balls in terms of raw talent. And he's a lot cheaper too.

Sorry my fault I thought the fact we would likely have to part with tank for shields was delusional. I may be delusional about that, but I wouldn't personally trade Tank for anyone other than Felix. That's my own opinion delusional or not, I really like tank and think he has a chance to be dominate for a long time.

This Greinke s*** is all a KW smokescreen. He's going to land a player like Garza or Shields who will be under team control for 2-3 years - not some 10 start rental he has to bid for that has already stated he hates pitching in the Cell and has a history of being a nutcase.

This seems to be the statement that makes the most sense IMO. With Kenny's ego and ZG's statement about not liking to pitch at The Cell....well, I think that's enough to turn KW off just enough. I also don't believe, nor do I think KW believes that it's "ZG or bust". He will get the guy who wants to pitch for the White Sox and hoist a piece of hardware in October, not the guy who is gonna sh#$ the bed because Chicago is a tough city and he doesn't like to pitch here.

And it would seem to me that the greatest hitter in White Sox franchise history would probably agree with you also, i.e. that he'd only trade Tank for a star who is controllable well beyond this season. Gushing praise from the Big Hurt > the opinions of Steve27u82348453r45twt at TardTalk.com. Even though I like Steve.

Lol, TardTalk is our sister site :P

I don't know if I'm giving up Tank for Shields. Tell them to take Floyd and like it ;)

...blah maybe we should stand pat. The pitcher we acquire has to outperform DA/PH by a ton to make up for the lost run production in losing Tank

Though the White Sox don't have a highly-regarded farm system, they have enough talent in the Major Leagues to acquire Greinke, Heyman reports. Gavin Floyd's name has come up in trade talks, but he doesn't appear to be related to the Greinke sweepstakes, Heyman reports.

Interesting, I just want some dag gum information already.

This also reiterates the point Bucket made yesterday. Seems his sources are a little more ahead of the curve than Mr. Heyman.

Why do posters continue to tie posts together and assume? Dude said the only player he'd move "Tank" for was "The King". Nowhere in there did I say "holy s*** trade Tank for James Shields!"

I don't believe so.

Shields is having a bad year. His ERA is 4.5. His value can't be that high right now.

That being said, his peripherals are still decent and I'd like to have him as a 4th or 5th starter.

He doesn't sound like much of an insider when they have him on the Score.

We disagree on the cost of Shields. That was covered multiple posts ago.

The very fact that the Angels offered a bench player (Peter Bourjos) straight up for Shields not only hints at the perceived market value, it also indicates he could probably be had for one of our young pen arms (hope for Jones, settle for Reed), a decent spect like Mitchell, and then a low-level spect. That's just my opinion.

There's no f***ing way we should trade Reed for Shields. Jones and Mitchell, maybe.

And the Angels were laughed at. Let's just wait and see what happens instead of ripping apart everyone's posts.
