If he wasn't Buddy Bell's boy, he'd be close to gone at this point. There were scouts calling him a release candidate around spring training time.

He's already on the 40 man, added this past-offseason.

I doubt they release Mitchell during this season. In fact they probably give him 2014 too, to figure it out. But he sure does look like a lost cause offensively at this point.
