On a good team, I think he's more like a 4/5. Hard to imagine him having an ERA in the 3.5-3.7 range for another year or so.

Why?

His fastball velocity is almost already recovered and frankly his offspeed stuff has been as good or better than before the surgery in some games.

The things missing are consistency with the offspeed and consistent control. Those will take, obviously, innings to get back.

We keep saying so-and-so is a 3/4/5 on a mythical "good" team. The John Danks of 2008-2011 is not as poor as 3 on many teams, including some good ones. What we have now is to be seen, but I'm extremely encouraged.

Nice hard-hit ball by Beckham.

How funny is it that Beckham might be our best trade chip right now?

Just based on the history of pitchers fully recovering from shoulder surgery. With that said, his stuff is so much better than we thought it would be heading into the year. His main flaw has always been his lack of command.

I think his main flaw has always been that he never had a pure strike out pitch other than the changeup. That's the reason why he never took that last step.

Prediction for 2nd game lineup?

SS- Ramirez

2b- Beckham

RF- Rios

LF- Viciedo

1B- Keppinger

CF- Wells

3B- Morel

C- Flowers

Pitcher's spot

Nothing like batting a guy hitting well in front of the pitcher.

Beckham's first walk of the month!

Does Manto get the credit for Becks resurgence?

& how in the heck did Alexei ever hit 21 homers?

Zero power now, but is having a pretty darn good season with the bat IMO.

I can't tell from the front camera but Viciedo's balance at the plate looks a little different here?

Look at this bastard.

Great catch.

So who do we think missed the sign?

Has Veal been remotely tolerable at AAA?

Ok Josh, I'm impressed.

100 mph for nate.

Sure although I'd say a lot of it is not being the awfulness that is Greg Walker.

Rios is a mess up there
