Twice

This is not true. Twice it occurred in a month and a half period (1989), which is the reason I think so many people, White Sox fans included, believe it only happened two times. Steve Lyons also got him for the third time in 1991. Ozzie Guillen is one of only two players to get caught three times. The other was a little known player named Jack Martin, who only also caught caught twice in one year, once in 1912, and twice more in 1914.

Gene the Stick Michael pulled off the hidden ball trick five times. George Stovall and Frank Crosetti had pulled it off six times. While the king of them all was Bill Coughlin who did it seven times, at three different positions, including in game 2 of the 1907 World Series. Coughlin is the only player in the history of the game to pull off the hidden ball trick during a World Series.
