2014 Schedule

At least there's one weekend home series against Detroit next year.

End of April/start of May: 16 straight vs Red Sox/Rangers/Tigers/Rays

Season may be over real quick.

Cubs series during the week again. How dumb.

There are a lot of 16-game stretches that don't include the Astros or Twins.

Nice that they get a day off to travel from Los Angeles to Anaheim. I guess MLB understands how bad traffic on the 405 can get.

From a selfish season ticket holder perspective, good to see some April/May series people want to attend; Cubs, BOS. Also, continuing to play the Cubs during the week, which makes good business sense for the team.

The season still goes too damn long IMO, and causes potential weather problems.

Playing the NL West in IL play - not sure if that will be good or bad next year. How strong will that division be?

Opening day in March? Off the top of my head I can't remember that ever happening in the 20+ years I've been watching.

Glad they're coming to Colorado again, this time in April.

Early enough to catch the end of ski-season for anyone making the trip.

My birthday is March 31st and it has happened at least once. We played KC in the early 2000's in either '02 or '03. Otherwise, you're probably right.

2008 they opened in Cleveland on the last day of March.

Can't complain too much about the schedule. They better start praying for good April weather now. A lot of home dates, plus Colorado and Detroit.

18 home games in August. If the Sox find a way to be a good team next year, they'll need a good August again.

50-50 odds at least one game gets postponed.

lol

Home vs Twins in March and at Rockies first week of April brutal.

Finally a weekend series in NY. Been a while since I've been able to take advantage of that

Already planning a trip to AT&T Park. Never been there, never even been to SF. Good times ahead!

I will always marvel at how they killed an already-flagging Cubs/Sox series by starting to put it on weekdays. Absurd.

Because it is smart business.

Those Cubs games are going to sell out, or nearly sell out, no matter what day they occur on. So for the Sox, why not put that kind of series during the week? Then some other team who doesn't draw as well goes to the weekend, where they will draw better than if they were during the week. It is pretty simple - this way of handling the schedule gets more butts in the seats on a season-long basis.

Both teams really sucking did more than what day of the week it is played on.

...but they don't sell out when put on the week days.

This series used to own the city. Scheduling and bad teams have killed it.

They sell more than the would on a weekday versus another series on the weekend and what it would draw on a weekday.

They sell more than the would on aweekendekday versus another series on the weekend and what it would draw on a weekday.

So the ticket +/- is neutral at best depending on where you put it.

The obvious choice then is to put it on the weekend. You'll get the sellout, be the event of the city for the weekend, and create hype for your brand. This series as we speak is dead right now though.

Technically it'd be neutral if you don't sell out. If the park sells out that means demand outstripped supply.

It made business sense when it was a sellout now that it is not the draw it once was, a weekend series would sellout, a weekday game is a nice crowd.

I do not think the weekday business model of these games is a good thing while they both suck.

I'm talking about timing though. Demand is only meeting/exceeding supply on the weekend. Cubs Sox games are worth 10k extra tickets roughly over an equally timed, "lesser" game, no matter when that time is.

Glad to see the @Toronto series is on a weekend next year; that's the closet MLB park to me. Gonna try to get to NYC too. Cleveland always a possibility.
