September 30, 201312 yr We're heading into the trade season, although I'm sure we're at least a month or so away from the end of the World Series and the deal making begins. But the minor league season is over and I'm sure that you have players you like and don't like for various reasons. I'd like to know who the folks here, particularly the minor league "gurus" feel are the top 2 or 3 prospects that they would like to see the Sox NOT trade away? These may or may not be the best ones by these ranking sites, but who do you feel has the baseball instincs to be at least an average MLB player and you would be disappointed if they were traded.
September 30, 201312 yr Johnson and Semien, that's it(assuming we're not considering Avi a prospect anymore). Those two should be starters in 2014 and shouldn't be going anywhere.
September 30, 201312 yr Erik Johnson, Semien, Micah Johnson. Those are the 3 I do not want to see traded at all (of course everything depends on who we'd get back). Of those that I LIKE, and would PREFER not to be traded, Chris Bassit and Chris Beck. Of those who have value that I WOULD like to see traded.... Carlos Sanchez.
September 30, 201312 yr As far as I'm concerned, anybody outside of Chris Sale and Avisail Garcia is fair game.
September 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) As far as I'm concerned, anybody outside of Chris Sale and Avisail Garcia is fair game. This. There is no one in the system right now that should be untouchable. Not even close.
September 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) This. There is no one in the system right now that should be untouchable. Not even close. Agreed 100%. Our best guys are still flawed guys.
September 30, 201312 yr No one is untouchable. That said, I don't see the Sox trading away many, if any, notable prospects at this point. I think it is much more likely they acquire some.
September 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) Agreed 100%. Our best guys are still flawed guys. If our top prospects are flawed, why would other teams want to trade for them? Wouldn't we just get other flawed prospects back?
September 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (RegionSox @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) If our top prospects are flawed, why would other teams want to trade for them? Wouldn't we just get other flawed prospects back? I think the point was, all prospects are flawed. No such thing as a sure-fire prospect, for any useful purpose of the definition. And that is true.
October 6, 201312 yr QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) As far as I'm concerned, anybody outside of Chris Sale and Avisail Garcia is fair game. +1 I still would like to keep Johnson, Quintana, and Semien, but I don't think anyone is untouchable except Sale and Avi.
October 10, 201312 yr QUOTE (RegionSox @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) If our top prospects are flawed, why would other teams want to trade for them? Wouldn't we just get other flawed prospects back? Flawed does not mean useless. It just means not untouchable.
October 11, 201312 yr QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 05:25 PM) Flawed does not mean useless. It just means not untouchable. The Chisox system was pretty bare when they traded an a-baller named Chris carter for Carlos Quentin, but that won a division title.
