cabiness42
http://www.bloomberg.com/infographics/2013...eam-values.html That's right about what I would have guessed for the Sox. Only real surprises to me were to see St Louis that low and Baltimore that high.

greg775
And we have fans talking about keeping payroll down??? Spend, spend, spend. We're all being sold a bill of goods. The Sox franchise is a GOLDMINE. Give us a winner, White Sox. Keep spending on players until you get the right combination PLEASE. Addendum: We still have the right to blast the players who fail when given zillions of dollars like Dunn and Pujols, etc. Edited October 23, 2013 by greg775

And then you say "spend all this money" while then saying "well we get to boo them too." It's not like Dunn or Pujols aren't trying, but getting injured and older is apart of the game, and they will begin to struggle. I will always remember that you called for them to sign these "bums." Harry Chappas
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 23, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) 5th post in the thread. I was wondering what took so long for this post to happen, though I had a feeling it would be a different poster. So I will explain, total franchise value does not equal spending.....oh forget it. Jerry is a cheap ass mutherf***er who should sell the team to someone with deep pockets let's say hypothetically to a group that owns something like Ameritrade. They can leverage the s*** of the organization and then spend millions on players and infrastructure with the annual cash-flow that comes into the team from the ticket sales and tv money. Yes selling the team would be the answer. When $75M annually is used to pay down the debt used to pay for the team, the cash cow moves out to pasture to hang with Ronny Woo Woo rather quickly under the guise of "rebuilding" and the genius that is Theodore Epstein and his merry band of baseball savants. Funny thing is, many of these same people were basically handed the Bulls with Michael Jordan on the roster. They had to assume some debt, and that was it. Lee Stern was talking about it last year. JR offered him a much of the Bulls as he wanted. He passed. He is haunted to this day about that decision.

My dad bought stock in a company that sells marijuana paraphernalia, and it's tripled since the summer. It jumps up every time another state or city legalizes pot. No funny anecdotes or quips, getting too much rope from the fanbase as a former Sox favorite, etc. Pretty much every starter with the exception of Konerko (in that, he and Marty have something in common). Marty34
Imagine its value when it makes the playoffs two years in a row or God forbid three times in four. This outfit is an absolute sleeping giant.

I don't get on Robin. To be fair, though, here are last year's starters who deserved to be criticized/blasted IMO: Kepp, Lexi, Beckham, Paulie (if he wasn't hurt), Flowers, DeAza, Viciedo, Rios, Dunn. Does everybody agree on that? All of them were that bad or lazy or mentally deficient at times.
soxfan-kwman
Notice the Sox are ranked 24th in attendance, but 2nd in parking revenue!! Some places don't even charge for parking. When I went to Tampa to see the sox they gave us free parking for having 4 adults in our car. Bottom line the sox should give discount for a full car!! It would add attendance & concession money. Except that $20 spent on parking is more profit for the Sox than $10 spent on parking and $10 spent on food, so there is no real incentive for the Sox to give parking discounts. Very true. You have to remember that a good chunk of any concession money goes to the concession company. The parking is pure profit. You have to remember that a good chunk of any concession money goes to the concession company. The parking is pure profit. That's part of the reason why concessions and beer are so expensive. So many people have their hands in it financially, it needs to cost more so everyone can make money.
