Roy Halladay

Featured Replies

I know he had a horrid 2013. I know he had shoulder surgery. He is still Roy Halladay, the smart, veteran pitcher.

We need a right handed pitcher.

He may be a relatively low cost option on the right side.

Kenny has flirted with him before, granted it was when he was the best pitcher in baseball.

He could be a really good fourth or fifth starter on this rotation.

You could never have enough pitching depth.

If we are not looking to spend anymore money on long term signings he maybe a nice addition to the team.

I live about 20 mins outside of Philly so I watched Halladay pitch on a regular basis and I really think he might be done. He's sitting around 86 mph and his sinker doesn't have the same bite it had when it he was throwing it 92-93. Might be that he wasn't healthy, but I think its more likely that a 36 year old who is at the end of the road.

Besides that it still doesn't make sense. Why bring in an old pitcher who will just eat up innings that could be used for developing a young pitcher? Roy Halladay isn't making us a playoff team.

I'd be open to the idea if a backup plan was in order.

It would be kind of neat to have a probable hall of famer on the roster. However, it doesn't seem to make sense for a team that A. Has a pretty strong rotation already and B. Has faint hope of competing next year, to sign Halladay.

Maybe the Royals or Angels will grab him.

Halliday reminds me of Roy Oswalt. Rockies will probably sign him.

Halladay doesn't improve the White Sox nearly as much as many other moves that could be made. Especially because the odds are pretty good he isn't "Roy Halladay" anymore.

We could put together a list of all the former HOF players on the Sox.

Griffey, Jr. Thome. Vizquel. Seaver. Carlton. Pudge Fisk. Roberto Remember the Alomar. Michael Jordan (BB). Bo Jackson (CFB).

Frank Thomas.

I don't know why a guy like him would sign here either. Find a place where they've got a shot at being a competitor and don't have a lot of pitching depth. We're neither of those, on paper at least.

This could make sense if we sign him to a very low 1 year deal and deal him at the deadline if he does well. We aren't expected to compete anyway.

If Halladay were interested in that deal, there would be much better places for him to sign it.

I dont know if he will make the hall of fame, i think more in the Hall of Very Good

I dont think he would have any interest in pitching for the White Sox, he either re-signs, goes back to the Jays, or finds a nice pitchers park in the NL to finish out his career.
