Well, it's hard to say anything conclusive yet, since he was sitting for more than half of that month (April) before Garcia went down. He was at .348 and has now had a pretty bad stretch for 35 at-bats. That said, he very easily could have gone 2/4 yesterday again, as he was robbed on a great play by Owings. We'll know a lot more which Viciedo he is by the All-Star break. There's no arguing that he's never been close to the walk rate he's putting up now since his last hot extended streak in the minors when Ozzie didn't want to play him over Juan Pierre. I think it's too early to assume anything with him to be honest. Maybe April was just a hot stretch, maybe the first week and a half of May is just a slump. Who knows at this point. The pitcher has to think like a hitter , the hitter think like a pitcher. Where's the ball going ? What's the location? Is he going to throw me a strike or try to make me get myself out ? Fastball ? Curve , Changeup ? He has to remember tendencies by many different pitchers . The best plan starts with knowing your strengths and weaknesses and the simple fact you become a better hitter ahead in the count thereby forcing the pitcher to come to you and if he doesnt you take your walk. So with the change in pitchers approach to Flowers (he is seeing a lot more high fastballs instead of sliders off the plate with 2 strikes) his BABIP has fallen over 100 points, and he is still hitting .330.
