Further exam on Abreu’s ankle confirmed inflammation as the issue. Jose will be in a boot for the next several days & re-evaluated soon.

Further tests (MRI) on Jose Abreu confirmed inflammation. No underlying tear. In boot next several days, re-evaluated during home stand.

Hahn and Ventura should be thankful there was no tear. Or Schneider/Thomas. Can you imagine if that were the case?

Talk about a promising season deteriorating into ashes in the blink of an eye.

This needs more superlatives tacked on the end. Seriously. This could not be a bigger "dodged bullet" for RV and the training staff.

They would have known if there was. The medical staff knew already. THe MRI is just a CYA thing because of the contract. Anyone else besides a professional athlete would not have had the MRI with the insurance crackdowns.

I know it may be picky but don't put Schneider and Thomas together with injuries. One is trained in evaluation/diagnosis/treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunctions, the other is not. Schneider is part of the medical staff.

when is Abreu eligible to come off the DL? I am going to the 6/1 game and it would be great if he was back by then

Jose Abreu took 25-30 ground balls, played catch for 10 minutes and hit 30 off the tee. Relayed to translator Lino Diaz that he felt good.

Jose Abreu was just out taking more grounders at first base. Looked to be moving around better. Eligible to come off DL on June 2.

Ventura said Sox undecided on whether Abreu needs rehab at-bats but return by Monday looks good.

We should probably shut him down rest of year.

No!!! Monday? I'm coming from Toledo to the Cell on Sunday :( Missed him by one game.

He's not eligible to come off the DL until Monday.
