Sox were close to 3 way deal

I wonder if bucket and/or Rock know. Although even if they did, I'm sure they probably have to keep it under wraps considering Hahn wants to explore it again in the off season.

I think the player they were looking at was Jason Castro. Flowers was just coming off of the absolutely brutal stretch he had, and it is noted in those leaked Astros trade talks that Hahn was extremely interested in Castro. Also, the Astros need to clear spots on their 40 man roster this offseason to protect some of their better prospects from getting snatched away in the rule V, so I could surely see how the Astros could be a willing trade partner.

Yeah, that seems to be the most realistic guess so far, I think.

I guarantee you whomever they were looking at was not a superstar. That would have got some headlines. This was likely a move for a piece that they think has long-term potential and I would probably say a young catcher would probably be about as accurate of a guess as any.

It would take Sale and Hawkins/Montas/T.Anderson/Micah Johnson or Danish if they didn't include Rodon AND Sale.

There's just too much possible injury risk for another team to acquire just Sale as a centerpiece for a fellow franchise position player.

I know, and I would never make that trade, but the Marlins are run by Loria so you never know what shenanigans he's up to.
