Minoso up for Hall again

Featured Replies

I don't think there's really much of an argument for Minnie, at least in terms of his onfield performance.

Dick Allen, though, has a real shot. He's a classic borderline guy -- but if Jim Rice is in, Dick Allen should be a no brainer.

There really is no reason why I am not in. I'll let caulfield introduce me. It will leave me about 30 seconds for my speech.

I would drive up to Cooperstown for that.

Dick Allen quote: "If a horse can't chew it, I don't want to play on it."

I love Minnie. He's a really nice guy, at least when I met him.

Hoping he gets in.

I'd really like to see this happen. We keep people out because of their actions off of the field, I would love to see the opposite put a guy like Minnie into the Hall.

This is where the basketball HoF gets it right sometimes.

Golden Era Committee vote is tomorrow. The announcement is Monday.

Here's hoping those voting get a good night sleep and do the right thing.

If Minnie Minoso doesn't get it in, it would be a damn shame.

Brian Kenny, MLB Network"s resident saber geek, wants Minnie in. Apparently during his 10 year peak, Minnie averaged a 5 WAR. He also wants Dick Allen in. During his 10 year peak, his OPS+ was better than 11 contemporaries who are now HoFers, including Willie Mays and Hank Aaron.

This needs to stay near the top of the front page at least for today since the vote is today. Not enough current Sox fans can relate to Minoso they way they should like Cubs fans can relate and cherish Ernie Banks.

Yes I know Minnie was a notch below Banks in talent and certainly in exposure to the public eye. If you want to learn more about Minoso here's a link with a few short videos about him on it. There's no date on the page but it must be pretty recent because it says the the Minoso documentary will air on WTTW/Channel 11 in Chicago on Tuesday, December 11 from 10 to 11 pm.

I think the date and time of the docomentary should be stickied

Edit: I'd feel silly if that date was for 2013. Someone must know.

OK I feel sillier now . Probably from 2012. As Roseanne Rosannadanna used to say . "OH Nevermind".

No go on Minoso

Sigh

Nobody got in. Typical.

Maury Wills got more votes than Minoso. Joke.

There are way too many former players on that committee, with too many biased opinions. I'd like to see who voted for whom.
