Johnny Venters?

Featured Replies

Recently DFA'd by the Braves today. Yes he has had injuries, but when healthy, he was a key member of the pen.

1. Are you interested in him as being a low risk high reward type guy?

2. Would you claim him off waivers?

I would do my due diligence on him, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say he was DFA'd for a reason. 2 Tommy John's is rough. I'd say there's a good chance he 'll never even be close to the same.

He's expected to miss all of 2015....I'm not sure what to think of him at this point.

Just had his third TJ surgery...pass

Not an option

Yeah, Venters had his surgery last August.

No worries. I thought the same at first, but after doing some digging I noticed that he hasn't even pitched since 2012 and that he had his third TJ surgery fairly recent.

I'm no doctor, but where do they get the ligaments from on the third surgery?

A harvested tendon (often the palmaris tendon)—from the forearm of the same or opposite elbow, from below the knee (known as the patellar tendon), or from a cadaver

Sounds like quite the case of 'dead arm'. ;)

And with that, I'll return to the shadows.

I laughed. That's good punning.
