March 31, 201511 yr Author QUOTE (Sockin @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) Wait did I miss something? They have Soto as the starting catcher. Huge assumption on their part.
March 31, 201511 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) Huge assumption on their part. And a wrong one.
March 31, 201511 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) And a wrong one. They have him listed there because of Shark starting opening day.
March 31, 201511 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) They have him listed there because of Shark starting opening day. why, does shark and Soto have a special bound as a pitcher, catcher??
March 31, 201511 yr I feel like Soto will only start on the days where there is a pitcher with a good pickoff move
March 31, 201511 yr Been saying it all ST and since the signing, soto is gonna end up being the starter within ~1 month.
March 31, 201511 yr QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 11:02 AM) why, does shark and Soto have a special bound as a pitcher, catcher?? Hes familiar with him
March 31, 201511 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 05:17 PM) Hes familiar with him i remember a sox pitcher, when, i can't remember, but he only had 1 catcher who caught for hm. and this catcher made the team b/c of that. so the question, imo is a valid one.

March 31, 201511 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) When they had Charlie Hough? yeah, i think you are right, he was a knuckleballer. nice memory. didn't tom seaver also had a person catcher as well?
March 31, 201511 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2408778...-season-preview Very comprehensive preview...best ive seen. Wait, what? Bleacher Report? Best preview you've seen?
March 31, 201511 yr QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) Buehrle, too. really, who was his catcher.
March 31, 201511 yr Author QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 02:30 PM) Wait, what? Bleacher Report? Best preview you've seen? I think so. They point out of the obvious flaws in the team (4-5 guys)....possibilities for regression from Abreu and reasons for that, and also how much of the line-up's hopes are pinned on Avisail Garcia being a 20-80-20 SB guy....another example, Eaton also had very high BABIP, and low walk rates, not unlike Abreu (around 8%)...so both need to pick up their walk rates to the 12-15% range to compensate for expected falls in BABIP/returns to normative numbers. Concerns about Gillaspie's late season fade and platoon splits, the catcher's spot and Micah Johnson's ability to make an immediate impact. A bit about the bullpen....not much analysis yet of the impact of Petricka being on the DL, and who will step up to take his place, whether it's Putnam, Guerra, Albers, Leon, etc. Crain I guess had that shoulder setback but should contribute as early as May or June.

Thanks for the TL;DR, I can't bring myself to deal with slideshow articles
April 1, 201511 yr QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) Thanks for the TL;DR, I can't bring myself to deal with slideshow articles It is actually pretty good. There's an article for each slide show page covering different parts of the team including possible impact rookies.
April 1, 201511 yr They probably made Soto the starter because Flowers is terrible and Soto was once good a long time ago on the other side of town. 87 wins would be excellent.
April 1, 201511 yr QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) really, who was his catcher. Numerous. I think Ramon Castro was one.
April 1, 201511 yr QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) Didn't Peavy prefer Flowers to A.J. so Tyler was Jake's guy? I believe so.
April 1, 201511 yr QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) I feel like Soto will only start on the days where there is a pitcher with a good pickoff move Soto threw out 3 of 4 would be basestealers yesterday, and if Alexei didn't fan on a tag, it would have been 4 of 4. He isn't bad throwing oit guys despite his ugly tosses back to the pitcher.
