April 25, 201510 yr Author May 28 could be a possibility. The Sox would have to fly back from Toronto on their way to Houston, and the Royals will be in town to face the Cubs.
April 25, 201510 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 09:08 AM) May 28 could be a possibility. The Sox would have to fly back from Toronto on their way to Houston, and the Royals will be in town to face the Cubs. That is too advantageous to the visitors.
April 25, 201510 yr Author QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 09:12 AM) That is too advantageous to the visitors. It's either that or a doubleheader right after the All-Star Break. Both teams have off days June 1st too, so it's not a bad time to do it on the 28th. Or they could play it September 28, but the Sox would be finishing the season with 24 straight games and would have to approve it. Edited April 25, 201510 yr by flavum
April 25, 201510 yr I have tickets for Sunday so it'll be cool to see the resumption of Friday's game. Gonna make sure I bundle up. Supposed to be sunny, so that should make a difference.
April 25, 201510 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) It's either that or a doubleheader right after the All-Star Break. Both teams have off days around the 28th, so it's not a bad time to do it. Double header. Screw that off day travel mess.
April 25, 201510 yr Author QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) Double header. Screw that off day travel mess. They could, and maybe they will, but Toronto to Chicago is less than 90 minutes. Chicago to Houston is 2:15. It's not really a mess at all.
April 25, 201510 yr Author QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 09:58 AM) I think Kev is right the players don't want to add another travel day. Plus, with the MLB's new rules having the teams be able to add a 26th guy, it just makes a lot more sense to have both teams bring up a pitcher and keep their off days. Yeah, we'll see. I would think the Sox wouldn't want to dip into a 6th starter right after the break where off days are scarce to begin with. They really have three options: 1) May 28, where it's easy to get back and play and have an off day on June 1 2) July 17 or 18 doubleheader, and use a 6th starter 3) September 28, but the Sox play 24 days in a row to end the season In my opinion, May 28th makes sense, but can totally see the DH in July.
April 25, 201510 yr Author QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 10:14 AM) Good looking. I think it'll be July 18th. Makes too much sense. Both teams will have four days off prior and fresh staffs. The Sox have the following Monday off. Plus, the teams could manipulate their Charlotte/Omaha rosters to schedule the guy they want to call up to pitch on the DH date. By the way you're awesome for stuff like this. I generally think doubleheaders suck for everyone involved, but you're probably right about July 18. An extra game on a Saturday in July probably helps attendance too.
April 25, 201510 yr Author Brooks Boyer just mentioned it will be a split doubleheader later in the season. July 18 seems like a good bet.
April 25, 201510 yr As usual, could have played these games today. Pretty rain free afternoon downtown. It is cold. Probabky would have had 12,000 Abreu blankets left over.
April 25, 201510 yr QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) So wait, they're going to restart the entire game for the makeup of last night? No? They will start in the Top of the 9th with Robertson pitching
April 25, 201510 yr QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 02:48 PM) No? They will start in the Top of the 9th with Robertson pitching Ok, that's what I thought, it just seemed like people were treating it differently. Thanks
April 25, 201510 yr QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 03:53 PM) Sun shining, beautiful April day for some baseball. A little cold, that's it Very Cubs like decision. Does agreeing to a PPD game help either team as far as the suspensions? Edited April 25, 201510 yr by Brian
April 25, 201510 yr QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 05:38 PM) Very Cubs like decision. Does agreeing to a PPD game help either team as far as the suspensions? No.
April 26, 201510 yr Will my tickets from Friday get me in tomorrow for both the suspended game and the scheduled game?
April 26, 201510 yr The way they were working tickets for today's game before it was postponed was that if you had a ticket from Friday you could exchange it for a $10 bleacher seat or something like that, saw it on Facebook earlier I believe.
April 26, 201510 yr Author Announced: The day/night DH will be Friday, July 17. Opening the second half with a doubleheader. Edited April 26, 201510 yr by flavum
April 26, 201510 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 01:00 PM) Announced: The day/night DH will be Friday, July 17. Opening the second half with a doubleheader. I like it. Hate the ASB, so starting 2nd half with two games sounds fun.
