June 16, 201510 yr Avi just turned 24 and is in what is hopefully his first full season. Offensively he has improved this year so his improvement is a nice bright spot despite slumping.

Avi may pull out of it but my first thought is that other teams have changed the way they pitch him and his reaction to that is an 0 for 50 slump.
June 16, 201510 yr 8/50 (.160) since his injury at the end of May. He does have 3 homers and 7 RBI's, so he hasn't been completely unproductive with those hits at least.

For myself, all the 05 guys are gone now so there's nobody to stick up for. I have no emotional tie to any of these stiffs, except of course Sale and Abreu who deserve my utmost respect.

Beckham made a couple of good defensive plays and almost hit a home run but it went foul. Understood completely, but I still support the team. We have talent, but it just hasn't seemed to jell. June 16, 201510 yr Author I'm not making any final conclusions about AVI... It's that I hear all this talk about how great he is going to be from people inside and outside the organization. I have some serious doubts... He ranks near the bottom in multiple plate discipline categories... He is 2nd in all of baseball in swings and misses.. also 2nd in all of baseball at swinging at pitches outside the zone. Edited June 16, 201510 yr by harkness
June 16, 201510 yr He's just not that good a baseball player, fooled many into thinking he was due to a BABIP mirage and has somehow managed to convince the org he is a future great without even displaying basic competency thus far
