June 20, 201510 yr At some point, the hitting coach has to be accountable for the epic failures of this offense. May not be fair, but there's nothing to lose at this point. I say shake things up and hope the offense responds.
June 20, 201510 yr Author Mods, can we add a poll here? Would really like to see people's thoughts on this.

It would be unfair to keep him on the team...along with a few others
June 20, 201510 yr Just like with Ventura, it can't hurt to see if somehow they get lucky and someone else can help turn things around. Even seeing minimal improvement the rest of the way would be nice, as it's somehow getting worse by the week.
June 20, 201510 yr Author QUOTE (onedude @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) Lol...fair? The Sox are last in almost every offensive category. It would be unfair to keep him on the team...along with a few others Let's be honest, the failures primarily fall on the players. Having said that, it's Steverson's job to improve guys' approaches at the plate, especially if they're pressing. He's clearly not adding any value right now, so there's nothing to lose, but I'm not sure he deserves to be the first guy to go. Flowers & Sanchez both deserve to go before him IMO. That's why I said fair.
June 20, 201510 yr Well, to be fair, Lewis did just put up 24 consecutive scoreless innings on them until the Flowers homer. Tip your caps. Six starts in a row against the Sox, six victories for Colby.

Oh...the players not performing need to be gone too...obviously you have to live with Cabrera Laroche...etc... but Steverson iis a must go...he has lost his ground with the Sox. He can't do anything for this team from this point...let him try elsewhere, but he needs to be fired. Edited June 20, 201510 yr by onedude

So that the bench can lose the only coach who isn't an insider? That would a cynical move. Fire Williams, Fire Hahn, Fire Ventura if they want to do something substantive. Anything less is a scapegoat. Edited June 20, 201510 yr by GreenSox
June 20, 201510 yr The hitting coach should definitely get dumped. I'd pay Big Hurt a million bucks to take over til the end of the season. Then give Gardenhire the managing job if LaRussa doesn't want it. I wish Ozzie would return. Can you imagine what he'd be saying about these players right now? Remember how he used to pull no punches and blast the guys in the press? But back to the point. Yes the hitting coach should be canned pronto.
June 20, 201510 yr He was hired to instill the Oakland philosophy throughout the organization. He has failed miserably. Not as great a failure as Vince Coleman but close.
