Whether Thompson can hit at the MLB Level is still a huge question mark; Most of the expectations I see are tempered; if he plays great defense and hits .230 with 15 HR, Sox fans seem to be accepting.

I think the thought is just that you are maximizing his defensive value in center and will help make up for lack of hitting.

He's got plenty of arm for any OF slot. But his strong skills in routes, speed and glove work mean his value is highest in CF.
