December 8, 201510 yr http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/rang...ce-fielder.html I don't know. Might be worth kicking the tires on if Texas was willing to take back LaRoche and who knows, they could have interest in Danks? I wouldn't mind a LH middle of the order power bat behind Abreu in the lineup. The Sox would be on the hook for 18M per year with Fielder and would still have money left to take on a salary like Lawrie or Prado or Freese or Asdrubal. Just throwing it out there. Thoughts?
December 8, 201510 yr If they could move LaRoche and Melky then they would have room for him but I don't see Texas taking either of those guys. Prince Fielder would be way better than LaRoche at DH but too much stuff would have to happen for it to be realistic
December 8, 201510 yr No. He'll be 32, doesn't seem like he'd age well, and even with his pretty good numbers last year was still worth only 1.6 WAR. That's a long commitment too.
December 8, 201510 yr No way. Makes no sense. I'd rather just hang onto LaRoche than take on that whale... of a contract. What the effing eff was Texas thinking?
December 8, 201510 yr The only way I would think about it is if they were willing to kick in one of their top prospects in an area of weakness (say Odor or Alfaro) to soften the blow.
December 8, 201510 yr Really not at all interested and this seems very much like the rangers version of "sox shopping around laroche"
December 8, 201510 yr Anyone who takes him is a sucker. It's amazing the Tigers got out from most of under that weight (ha).
December 8, 201510 yr why take on an $18M contract? I don't know how we would have money left unless the idea is somehow the Sox trade both Danks and Laroche and their combined $28M contratcs? That is not going to happen IMO nor do I think the Price is our answer. We have more concerns than the DH spot
December 8, 201510 yr Texas is not “shopping” Fielder, GM Jon Daniels says, as Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (Twitter links). And a source tells Wilson that the club hasn’t had “any conversations” regarding the veteran slugger.
