So, sorry if this is dumb, but...if I am a registered democrat, can I pick a republican ballot on the 15th and vote for Kasich if I want? Or do I have to vote democrat?

You should be able to ask for whatever ballot you want.

Illinois is an open primary, just ask for your desired ballot when you go to vote.

The question is was it idiocy or political strategy to hold the rally on a college campus on the near West Side? I doubt the same protests happen at Harper College in Palatine .

Maybe they wanted the publicity. Or maybe they are just dumb.

For Chicago? Yeah, this was pretty mild and trump folded like a coward. Threats on his life? Can't appear on camera? Lol.

Fair. Maybe it was weak for Chicago. But violence still isn't something to accept or make light of. It was a scary situation.

Definitely strategy one that "failed" and will end up working better for him.

Police disagree, and trump clearly lied and was scared off by protesters. Not sure how tough of a leader he'd be.

He actually said he was worried for his supporters. He was right. I was scared as hell, not going to lie.

His supporters are as big of cowards as he is. Just fine with violence when there's only a handful of protesters, run scared when there's actual opposition.

Okay man. You are right. I run when I don't feel safe. I guess that makes me a coward.

I posted this before the event was even cancelled:

Man never seen a longer line for the event. Guy ahead of me got kicked out trying to bring a knife in so that was nice. It's secret service, dumbass. Around 1k protestors here chanting "uncle tom and "shame on you" towards black trump supporters. Keeping it real classy. Probably a hundred people kicked out already. Trump hasn't even come on yet.

Yes, people trying to sneak weapons in initially freaked me out. Maybe I was a little too on edge. But then supporters were getting attacked right in front of me. Once they cancelled the event, it was probably the scariest situation. Luckily I spotted a group getting escorted by secret service, and I jumped in line with them.

It's an open primary, so you can request a Republican ballot, but then you have to vote Republican in every race. You can't vote for Kasich for President and then Democrats in other races.

Pretty much and so much white trash. Trumps entire support base is there because of blatant racism. I went down there and hung out in the area after and it was so f***ing racist.

You seem to be happy that violence and threats to security disrupted our political process.

The protesting should be allowed to happen at any rally but trump over the course of the last several months has specifically called for violence against any opposition. This was exactly what HE asks for. Don't blame anyone but what he created.

Rubio and Kasich jumped on Trump for what happened yesterday.

They blamed his rhetoric for what happened.

Trump is not a divider, he's a uniter against him and his nutter agenda.

MSNBC has an excellent video montage of every single speech he gave where he condoned violence.

I'm telling you, those f***ers wanted to start fights. They feel embolden being around a group of their fellow racist asshat peers. They were just heckling students that weren't even protesting FFS!

The more this escalates, the more Trumps chances goes down. He'll bring people out to the ballot box if he's the nominee; a slew of minorities will insure he doesn't get elected and there are not enough white people to put him in there.

They started early in the morning trying to fight and it only got worse. I felt like George Wallace was having a rally.

Fine by me, I live in Lakeview and doubt my vote makes much of a difference on the democratic side for other races. I don't think I can vote for the guy who is challenging Boss Madigan and I would prefer to help the GOP kick out some democrats so Rauner can start doing more to help Illinois. If Trump does get the nomination though, I am definitely going to vote for Hillary, as much as it pains me (unless a miracle happens and Trump isn't the nominee).

I am just hoping my vote for Kasich doesn't help Trump that much since I bet Cruz or Rubio will be number 2.
