  1. You don’t get the Jimenez love? A consensus top 5 prospect who in his second year put up a 139 wRC+ and 1.6 fWAR in 55 games (a 4.7 win pace). He’s under control for the next five seasons at an AAV of $12.8M. He’s incredibly valuable if you don’t overreact to an injury impacted 2021. Trading Eloy for McNeil would be a fireable offense IMO. Also, BTV’s valuations are meaningless. It’s a fun little tool, but we should not be using them as a legit benchmark for assessing player value.

  2. McCann for Keuchel would make sense for us. But we can’t afford to pay McCann $10M/year to be our backup catcher.

  3. He did give up one sack, but overall he was good. If this team can get a couple really good OL and one good WR, they can have a Top 10 offense next year. Montgomery is a really tough running back. Definitely want to keep him around.

  4. Why are we treating 2020 this way?

  5. This is a guy who was a 3 rWAR player as a rookie in 18 in 63 games, a 5 rWAR player in 2019, a 1.5 rWAR player in the short 2020 (would scale up to about 4.5 over a full season). If he’s that kind of player, then he’s not Leury Garcia, he’s Chris Taylor. He’s a starter who happens to be good enough that you can move him around to multiple positions if someone else is getting rest or pinch hit for. You want him in your lineup every day. Leury Garcia is a bench player who is acceptable at multiple positions without hurting you. You want him available on the bench when you need him, but not playing every day. Of course the big worry is that he was a 1.4 rWAR player in 2021. That’s Leury Garcia performance, that’s the kind of guy you have to replace at the deadline. But, you’re paying a price for him that reflects how good he was in those first three years, with a premium for multiple years of control remaining, and a little discount for his down ‘21, so you can’t afford for him to be that bad again if you trade for him.

  6. I see in BTV where McCann has negative value. I like him for the Sox anyway. They also value McNeil more highly than Jimenez even though Jimenez is quite a bit younger. I just don't get the Jimenez love. His power potential gave him strong value despite his clown act on defense when he was under arbitration wage scale. Let's see if he can play a few games and produce better than 1.5 WAR in 2022 now that he is being paid. My hope is that it isn't in left field.

  7. Okay, that pretty much one-ups any stadium here. Good lord.
