  1. I agree, but the Sox value less years if they have to pay money. 3yrs vs whatever Ozuna commands.
  2. I am not 100% sold on Giolito yet. But to answer the question, no.
  3. They would of been smart, coming to a deal with him before last season.
  4. At some point, this is coming. No way they shell out the money he is gonna command.
  5. With the biggest contract that they handed out is $73M, do you honestly believe they are gonna hand out not 1 but 2 $200M contracts?
  6. Perpetual rebuild. The will not pay $250M, they will trade Moncada.
  7. I am not saying, I would rather them trade for a guy than sign on. I would of rather them signed Ozuna. I am saying, Steele Walker is nothing special. Why do they draft them? Because they are terrible at scouting?
  8. A lot of you are getting upset over this, and I am not sure I understand. The Sox just gave up a guy, with the upside of maybe a 4th OF, for a kid that will give you 20ish HRs, and about 70 RBI in RF. And they are very close in age as well. I just see upside with this guy, and really not giving away the farm.
  9. Don't you think it would be more productive to decline the interviews until you made another move? In the last 24yrs, we have had Jerry laughing that the Sox were connected to Ozuna and now Hahn gibber jabbering.
  10. If you don't understand that a team in this big of a market is not equal to a teams in Florida, I don't think I can explain it to you for you to understand. We should be where the Cubs are, when it comes to spending. Instead, we are penny pinching.
  11. When the organization is no where near the luxury cap and is in the 3rd market and has money to spend, yes!
  12. You are comparing a successful organization with one that appears to belong in minor leagues.
  13. Are you seriously comparing the Sox to the Dodgers? When was the last time the Sox went to the playoffs back to back years?
  14. IF $16M is aggressive and missed out, this is going to be a terrible offseason.
  15. At some point, the market is what the market is. The tier after Stras and Cole is about 5yrs between $125-$150. If they were in a bidding war, they should of seen what happened last year, anticipated what would happen, and thrown an offer of $140-$150 at Wheeler. I am not saying he is worth that, but your team need that. This team can not survive(signing) players in a bidding war, there is evidence of that. So they need to sweeten the pot. But to your point on punting, I don't think they are that smart, nor do I think that is what they think. I think, Jerry either doesn't wanna spend money or he has to get the upper hand in these signings. You can cite Grandal signing as them spending money, but they really have done nothing since then, and are talking about giving up assets for players instead of outright signing someone. They are going to waste Moncada's time on the sox, just like they waster Sale's time. History repeats itself, and I just have a feeling bargain bin Jerry is about to waste more time.
  16. He knows absolutely nothing. Unfollow anything from barstool, it is a joke.
  17. I am not getting bent out of shape over Wheeler. The market is, what the market it, you either elect to participate or your don't. They really do not have a choice, if their goal is to compete soon.
  18. No, based on precedence. The Sox would rather trade for a player with a year or 2 left on their contract rather than signing them to a longish term deal.
  19. It is such a Sox move to give assets up for a player rather than signing one. I don't trust the Sox in this process.
  20. I have no idea where you came up with this from what I said. I was simply implying home runs are sexy, slap hitting is not. I think Madrigal is going to be a worst a cheap gold glove replacement right now to Yolmer. We can talk about how I am not sure how him swinging at literally EVERYTHING is going to or not going to translate to MLB pitching if you want.
  21. These are 2 different types of players. One is winning Gold Gloves in the minors, the other is an undersized 1B. Maybe hitting wise, he is ahead of Madrigal, but at the end of the day, Jerry is going to play the control card.
  22. Gotta get excited about a guy that has 62IP above A ball at 23yrs old and coming off TJ, a Soon to be 25yr old with almost 100IP above A ball, and a 25yr old with less than 100IP above A ball.
  23. The Sox are not know to develop players. All that I mentioned were highly regarded. The only one I might think would develop and I am interested in is Basabe. Steele Walker doesn't excite me, Sheets doesn't excite me, Adolfo doesn't excite me, and Rutherford doesn't excite me.
  24. This system is too top heavy for them to make any trades. When Robert, Madrigal, and Vaughn come up, they really don't have anything down there.
