  1. I'm guessing they would prefer to use him more as the long-man, especially without Crochet.
  2. 95 wins and they acquire Marcus Stroman at the deadline in another inner-city trade. Hopefully this one works out a little better.
  3. So everyone is mad that we didn’t overpay for the pitcher everyone was worried we were going to overpay for. Got it.
  4. If it's truly a bidding war for Manaea, I think I would just go into the season with what he have (Gio, Lynn, Cease, Kopech, Kuechel, using ReyLo when needed) and waiting til later in the season. Once we get closer to the deadline, more pitchers will become available and I just don't like the idea of giving up a lot of bullets for a guy like Manaea.
  5. If he's the every day DH and fills in at 1B (OF in a pinch), there's plenty of ABs.
  6. Why are we assuming that Vaughn can't/won't improve as a hitter after his first full season?
  7. Yikes. That is the kind of package I would give up for Montas. Manaea....
  8. I want Vaughn in the everyday lineup as much as possible. Think he's going to mash. What this trade does (finally) is give the roster a little flexibility. I still think you can find plenty of at bats for Vaughn in LF, DH, 1B without sacrificing Eloy, Abreu. Pollock probably needs days off to stay healthy anyway.
  9. So if Conforto signs somewhere else, why even bother trading Kimbrel? Might as well keep him and see if he rebounds.
  10. The buzz around Conforto has been so quiet that I’m convincing myself he’s waiting for the Sox to move Kimbrel lol.
  11. I heard the hit. He basically said he doesn’t think the Sox are interested in Conforto because he’s a Boras client. Didn’t say it was a report/source or anything. He literally said it was an opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.
  12. At some point you have to wonder if the owners are sticking it to the players with low-ball offers. Too many big names still on the board during this “frenzy” and just a few weeks from the season.
  13. While I agree with the overall sentiment, the bullpen is definitely better on paper with Kelly and Graveman.
  14. Honest question, if we can’t get anything good and his value is at an all-time low, wouldn’t it make sense to keep Kimbrel and hope he bounces back? That way he has more value during the season.
  15. If they get an all-star caliber (or close to it) bat in RF, they have more than enough in their lineup to be a great offense with an average 2B.
  16. I'll take Segura at this point if it means we spend on RF and maybe SP.
  17. Graveman was announced by the Sox today, FYI.
