    Crede

I'm not bashing Crede at all, i also believe that if a player is going to let a run come in its him with all the runs he has saved...however i was a little shocked when i saw it was his 7th of the year already considering he only had 10 all last year.
  2. QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) Guys dont you remember people from the east coast think thats "bush league", which is all the more reason to do it. haha it wouldnt be bush league when he deserves to be there but doesnt get the recognition
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) If Garland hit the FA market after last year, or even this year, how much do you think he would make? Well that's two diff questions. If it were last year i really think he got what he deserved. It's a always been said he wants to go the the west coast. if that were the case why would he stay here for less money? He took it because he's loyal and he knew it was a fat contract. If he were to hit the market after this season a lot would depend on what he does the rest of the season. He could play the whole first half like s*** like he's doing now but if he ends the season, say his last 10-15 starts, with an era in the 3's like last year he probably would get the same type of contract he just received. what do you think about that rock
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Do many pitchers earn their salary? Its easily the most overpaid position in sports. Of course comparative to what some pitchers (AJ Burnett, etc) are starting to get these days, his salary is somewhat a bargain. He's the only pitcher on the sox staff that i consider overpayed. his salary's a bargain if he does what he did last year but if he stays as a .500 pitcher or continues what he's doing then it is a waste of money. I get the feeling you think that I think he will continue this all season, which isn't the case. I'm just saying he better get out of his funk and start earning his paycheck...which isn't a bargain esp. since it goes up the next 2 seasons conseiderably.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) Ah, I think you know what I think of you..... Its easy to get frustrated with any player who does not produce right out of the box. Especially after having a breakout year and a successful playoff run. Fact is, all signs point to him improving his performance. The guy is young, just figured himself out, and has succeeded over the course of a season and a playoff run. I thought he looked pretty good last night, he was painting the corners and not getting the calls, which led to 2 runs which prob wouldnt have happened otherwise. Im not going to bury him based on his start, and I feel that he will improve, just like BA will, just like Freddy has done, and just like many players have in the past few years. Obviously garland and anderson are going to get better...it'd be pretty hard for their numbers to get any worse. I didn't get to see the game last night, my mlb.tv was skipping and after the big hurt at bat i turned it off because i was getting annoyed so i just listened to it, however i hope it's true that garland was looking better. is it the start of his turn around? By the way i'm not burrying him, i'm simply saying he's not earning his $9 mill this year which is obvious
  6. how old is Nelson? late 30's?
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) apology accepted by the way i like your pic
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:58 PM) You're right, if BMac were in the rotation, his ERA would probably be in the 4's. But there's a lot of problems with that. First of all, if Kerry Wood and Mark Prior were in the Cubs rotation, their ERA might be in the 3's. But they're not there. Why? Overuse at too young of an age, combined with s***ty mechanics. And we might have an even worse bullpen than we have now. Brandon's gonna wind up with somewhere over 100 innings this year. He's also damn young, and he has a chance to be damn good for damn long time. Let Brandon get adapted to major league pitching in the pen, keep his innings down, and just wait for the 20 win seasons to start rolling in. There's no reason to rush the kid yet. No, i completely agree with you. I don't think bmac should be in the rotation yet, I was just arguing that someone said his era was almost as high as Garlands.
  9. hey rock sorry i dont have 8,000 posts bro. i really wish this could be my life so i wouldnt be a bandwagon jumper oh yeah i was at a playoff game in 2000 and have gone to games frequently since i was a kid...you were almost right though
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) You are proving to be a bandwagon jumper, congrats. Oh really, thanks a lot since I've been a sox fan my whole life in a house full of cubs fans. way to be a cool guy and try to insult someone by reading one post that disagrees with you
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) Blah blah blah. Seriously, come talk to me at the end of the season if this is stil the case. Other pitchers performing badly at this point. D Willis 5.12 ERA A Pettite 5.03 L Hernandez 5.51 R Johnson 5.62 S Elarton 4.71 J Lieber 5.81 E Bedard 5.08 J Marquis 5.08 J Bondermann-who everyone is calling an Ace now, 4.66 D Davis 5.14 J westbrook 4.98 j Blanton 6.24 M Morris 5.43 E Santana 5.02 P byrd 5.92 B Radke 7.20 King Felix 5.84 J Weaver 7.30 C Silva 8.44 M Clement 5.36 El Duque (NL) 6.11 O Perez 6.04 D Cabrera 5.23 G Chacin 5.31 B Chen 8.08 M Redman 6.88 O Perez LAD 6.97 on and on and on. I will bet on it that most of these pitchers will not have these numbers by the end of the season. And Jon's will improve too. Jump off the cliff all you want, you will look follish when you are trying to climb back up. So just because other pichers are doing bad we shouldn't worry about Garland? Most of those pitchers on the list are establiched winners throughout their careers. GARLAND HAD ONE GOOD SEASON! He's proving right now he doesn't deserve his contract.
  12. if bmac were in the rotation all season i doubt his era would be in the 5's. one or two bad outings in the bullpen and your era sky rockets and it's tough to get back down. garland logs so many innings if he had four or five strait quality starts that his era could drop back down to decent.
  13. QUOTE(rcpweiner @ May 22, 2006 -> 05:37 PM) Just a quick question: You know how Sox fans hate Mariotti because of his completely biased view against the White Sox? Does this mean that Cubs fans like Mariotti? Do anyone know of any Cubs fans that defend the man's positions? I'm just trying to figure out his "fan base". One of my good friends is a huge Cubs fan and he always enjoyed reading mariotti's articles but i wouldn't call him a fan. However, after that article saying it was all pierzinski's fault, of course he believed it and loves him now...how ridiculous. moronotti never knows what the hell he's talking about, as long as it's exacty the opposite of what everyone wants to hear it gets attention.
  14. you couldnt have owens as our lead off hitter when Fields is the one playing his position in left field. that's why the question was brought up, "who is going to be our lead off man?" It would have to come from 2nd base or short stop most likely being 2nd base since Iguchi's contract is up at the end of the year. if chris getz puts up good numbers he'd be the most logical. unless of course we land a FA in the off season at 2nd base that can lead off
  15. I really expect Thome to hit at least 50 home runs as long as he doesnt take a trip to the DL. If he ended up with less it wouldnt be a disappointment, he's just playing that good that I expect him to hit that many
  16. well we have to remember he missed most of ST and the beginnin of the year was like ST to him. just getting a feel for his swing and everythin again takes time.
  17. I still rememer how shocked I was when I heard on the radio that we got Count for Esteban Loaiza. Loaiza was pitching so s***ty at the time(even though i know they had similar numbers), I don't see why the Yanks wanted him. Escpecially given his potential.
  18. IMO I really think Garcia is an overrated pitcher. I'm not going to knock him and say he's not good, but he's not an elite pitcher anymore and is definitely not the second best pitcher on this very talented staff. I hope he is the one traded in the off season to make room for McCarthy. The only thing holding me against that is his superb playoff experience.
  19. I'm also expecting a break out year for sweeney. He's gone back to his old swing and his wrist is healthy so he's adding power. I can't wait to see what he does.
  20. KW better be busy working those phone's becuase I know I'm not the only one worried about the bullpen at this point. So, let's start the discussions...who's available?
  21. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 07:59 AM) I agree that it depends on the situation, as well as variables such as who's pitching, who's been used lately, stuff like that. But I think most situations will lead to Mackowiak. It's pretty damn nice to have multiple reliable options off the bench, though. I was thinking the same thing about Mackowiak being the first option, but I think he will be starting at least 4 games a week just to let other players have a day off. So, on that note I think Cintron will be the first option as a replacement most the time.
  22. pretty good numbers, lets see if he can keep it up
  23. I just don't see the sox offering the best package for miggy. if we threw in a prospect with JC and Uribe I think we would have a better shot...but Ramirez and Clement? come on which would you choose? I understand the money issue but for those players I think Baltimore could figure out a way to get it done.
  24. This is nothing but good news, why even try to put a negative spin on it?
  25. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) i would rather have a healthy crede over a healthy blalock the defense, the CLUTCH, is their for crede. thats what we need outta him. hell it wud be nice if we had all that + average. but i just dont think we get it with blalock. now if crede does have some serious issues, i dont know how to feel about this. I agree, I was happy with Crede especially in the second half of the season...I don't think you need to make the trade for blalock. To me it makes more sense that you just trade Garland for top prospects if Texas really wants him. Crede was too clutch and his defense was great. It seems like we are losing half the team from last year that WON THE WORLD SERIES! Now, I'm all for upgrades but Crede is a big part of this team and we already have an insurance policy in case his back is so bad that he will miss the season or parts of it...it didn't seem to effect him in the playoffs so when did his back get so bad that he can't even play? I would be quite disappointed if we traded Crede for Blalock because yes I will say Blalock is the more dangerous hitter but he isn't enough of an upgrade if you consider the clutch hitting and team chemistry.
