QUOTE(BureauEmployee171 @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 04:00 PM) I will give MLBSB's and the BAL Orioles reports (as both are the same): Danny Richar - Tool - Current/Future Hit - 40/50 Power - 30/35 Run - 60/60 Field - 35/45 Throw - 50/55 OFP 49 I thought Richar had great range and is an above average defender. Surprising to see his fielding so low on this report -
While I agree Lincecum and Cain are both better prospects, I wouldn't expect them to put up those numbers in the AL.

QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) You mention getting more offensive production at SS, but i think people often fail to realize that over the past few seasons Juan Uribe has consistently been around the 20HR/70 RBI range. I dont know if theres anyone out there we can upgrade with to significantly better those numbers. yeah but his batting average and basically every other number has declined drastically over the last few seasons

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) Agreed 100%. For too long the White Sox have suckled on the tit of Earl Weaver, waiting for the 3-run HR and working young pitchers in through the bullpen. From now on, it's baptism by fire, low OBP grinders, and Andy Gonzalez at 3B! I could care a less if Andy Gonzalez is even a part of the organization next year.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:59 PM) It worked out for Buehrle and Liriano and plenty of other pitchers in the big leagues. I'm not saying it hasn't. I know Buerhle and Garland were brought up this way but recently it seems to be messing with our pitchers more than helping them. I'm thinking of guys like Floyd, Masset, Sisco, McCarthy, not so much Haeger. It just seems like Danks is the only young starter the Sox have thrown right into the rotation in a while.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:44 PM) I didn't know he threw a splitter... In his two brief appearences, I have been pleasently surpised. He doesn't have over-powering stuff, but a lot of movement and pretty good command which will only hopefully get better. A couple of those splitters he threw were plain filthy. I think he is making a name for himself as a major competetor to replace one of Garland/Contreras, and if not then start the year in the bullpen. I really hope the WhiteSox organization stops putting our young starters in the bullpen. I realize it gives them major league experience, but pitching out of the bullpen is a different mentality that most of the starters have never experienced which also leads to early struggles. These young hurlers have a difficult enough task as it is moving from the minors to the "show", I hate that management makes it even more difficult on them by putting them in situations they've never been in before.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 09:49 PM) Uhh I see the comparison, but the bolded is silly. He has the ability to put up similar home run, rbi, average, and strikeout numbers as Dunn while playing a similar (mediocre) LF on defense, but Dunn walks A LOT more, WAY WAY more, and is still pretty young, thus has a lot more value as an offensive player. From Fields' history though it seems he has a lot higher ceiling batting average wise compared to Dunn. Too lazy to look up Dunn's minor league batting averages but i'm assuming it wasn't close to .300. I'm really hoping Fields' k:walk ratio improves the next couple seasons.

fields is quickly becoming one of my favorite players

nothing on DLS?

how old is Richar? could we see him taking over ss or 2b next year?

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 10:41 AM) Good stuff from NY Newsday today. Sounds like they want to go for it this year... Am I (and are other) Sox fans undervaluing what we could get for Jose Contreras. I feel he's worthless, but if NL teams like him, I pray we can deal him along with Buehrle/Dye. As much as I'd like to see it I just don't see Contreras waiving his NTC to go back to new york.

I'll be there, better see Mark get win #100!

anyone have De La Santos' career minor league or season numbers? i dont know anything about him. lefty/right? good offspeed stuff? age?
-
according to rotoworld Contreras is pitching monday and Danks tuesday. http://rotoworld.com/content/home_MLB.aspx i'm not real sure why they would change the rotation though

huge game for AJ. Pinch hit homer to tie it then game winning hit in extras. hopefully thats the spark he needed to get him out of his funk. Sweeney with 2 doubles today, might be igniting the offense a little bit with some help from the bottom of the order. Buerhle pitched well with i think 7 strong innings only 3 earned runs. but didnt factor in the decision.

seriously though, any guesses on who's taking BA's spot? Fields is the first thing to come to mind, but he's off to a slow start so I don't see him picking up the offense on the big league club by any means. Other people are thinking maybe Perez, but I don't see that happening for some reason. I sense a trade... soon. Someone needs to pick up the offense, they look horrible to start the season and with Thome and Pods out for quite sometime something needs to be done.

Gio is one of my fav prospects. The way he's pitching right now I really see him challenging for Buehrle's spot in the rotation next year. I'm real excited with all the pitching we have in the minors that are actually legit prospects. Has Gio only been pitching only like 6 innings every game because his pitch count is so high or what's the deal with that?

OMG!!! just got off work and checked out the gameday...thats what im saying BUERHLE, thats how you pitch -
I'll be pretty pissed if they don't move erstad to left and BA starting center for the regular starting line up. If they keep Mac in left most the time while Pods is out then what the hell are they doing with Brian on the club?

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) Using the reasoning many people stated for Garcia last year, does that mean our entire team is a bunch of pot heads? I bet that's what Greggory_Pratt would be saying -
that said thornton hit 101 5 times last year? i was unaware he did it even once.
