  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) http://www.southsidesox.com/minors/2013/2/..._medium=twitter To me, this is a look into the mind and view of where the Sox plan on heading in the next few years. Refocusing as much as they have on the minor league system is going to pay off tremendously down the road for them, even if they struggle this year. It's very refreshing to hear something positive about what is going on in the minors, especially with international signings. I know it will take some time to reap the benefits of these signings, but I can't wait until we start to see it. Also, I like how it mentions how this is affecting the type of players we draft. Going after more high upside projects instead of drafting players to try and help the big league club immediately.
  2. QUOTE (southside_hitman @ Feb 1, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) Sizemore is still recovering from injury and is always hurt, it seems, but we all remember how he once shined as an outfielder and a clutch hitter. Since Hahn and the Sox seem to be in the hail Mary / long shot mode signing players and pitchers who are reclamation projects or almost all-out gambles, what about Grady Sizemore? No one seems to want him so I realize that is for good reason, but that said, it might not take much to sign him. Sizemore has stated that he is going to wait until he is completely healthy to sign with a team. I remember reading an article where he said he felt too much pressure to come back and contribute last season while he was under contract. He will wait until around midseason to sign.
  3. Chicago White Sox ‏@whitesox Courtney Hawkins checks in at No. 68 on @MLB.com's list of the Top 100 Prospects in the game. http://atmlb.com/YEn8WK via @whitesox
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 28, 2013 -> 11:22 AM) Full List now up, including write-ups for Top 10. Discuss. Pinning thread. Pretty shocked to see Simon Castro at #3.
  5. What is this infatuation the coach's/uppermanagement have with Zach Stewart? It seems like he has had 1 above average appearance since we acquired him from Toronto.
  6. Don't have time to look it up while I'm at work, but do what does his contract look like?
  7. Per MLBTR •The Marlins plan to start Adeiny Hechavarria at shortstop with Yunel Escobar playing third base, Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. However, the Marlins haven't ruled out flipping Escobar to a third team. If we got the 2011 version of Escobar I would welcome him to play 3rd base for the Sox.
  8. Yeah what are the Marlins doing? Signed all these players/Coach last offseason and they are all gone a year later.
  9. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal Yunel Escobar and Hechavarria part of package going from #BlueJays to #Marlins. Monster deal.
  10. Not really Sox news, but Mark Buehrle related. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal Buerhle headed to #BlueJays along with Josh Johnson, sources tell me and @jonmorosi
  11. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal Buerhle headed to #BlueJays along with Josh Johnson, sources tell me and @jonmorosi.
  12. Where are Nestor Molina and Simon Castro sitting these days? Between 10-15?
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) Both of these would be wonderful things. That's easy to say about Danks with how good Sale has been, and until recently Quintana. And even Hector Santiago. If they hadn't stepped up from the left side then we would be missing Danks a lot more.
  14. I read someone say during the Cubs series that Frank Thomas talked to him about approaching every at bat as if it were a 2-0 count...wonder how big that is playing in to his change of late
  15. Saladino at second base again. Wonder if they are moving him there permanently? Mitchell seems to be over his hot streak. It's great to see we at least got some quality arms in the trades we made this offseason in Hernandez, Molina, Jaye, and Marinez
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2012 -> 06:36 PM) Exclusively? Absolutely. As an out-of-town Sox fan I think it is easier to stay positive and form my own opinions of the moves the team decides to make or not make. When I did live near Chicago and listened to talk radio a lot it seems like you get sucked in to other people's opinions on what should or shouldn't be done. Honestly, I loved the moves they made all offseason by lowering payroll and keeping a competitive product on the field. The only thing that hurt was not resigning Buehrle, which was the right move, but hurt because he was my favorite player. It is hilarious to come on here daily and see what certain people post and how it is the same stuff in every single post they make. Baseball is a long season. It's dumb to form a new opinion every single week on a different move the team should make based on how a player performs that week.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) Scot Gregor ‏ @scotgregor Danks warming in outfield. White Sox game now scheduled to tip off at 7:30 tip off?
  18. Humber getting out of it and striking out the side!
  19. Lol he grew up in my hometown and went to the same school in SW Michigan (Lakeshore Public Schools) as me until he was in 8th or 9th grade. He was a few years older though. He used to be able to hit the hell out of the ball as well.
  20. QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 09:51 AM) All the blogs on the Rockies list Danks at the the top of their wish list. I wonder which GM will start the ball rolling....Rockies need a solid SP to be ready to win in 2012. Of course, they also need a third baseman, a second baseman, a first baseman under 35.. Still, they have a lot to offer in a trade. What's a good Rockies blog? Better yet, any knowledge on respectable Rockies message boards?
  21. QUOTE (kevo880 @ Oct 23, 2011 -> 12:56 AM) This is nothing new from Kenny. He is always looking for young major league ready talent in trades. The only major, or even semi-major, trade that comes to mind to make me think otherwise is the Vazquez trade where we reveived quality single A and Double A players in return. But this is the exact same mentality he had when we received Quentin, Danks and Floyd that come to mind first. I instantly realized the Peavy trade as well.
