  1. That wasn't former sox farmhand De Los Santos that pitched tonight against Kanny was it?
  2. QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) Why not give Broadway another start? Broadway can't start the next one because he was demoted after his last start and can't be called back up for 10 days i believe.
  3. Richar is definitely impressing me again...looks like hes finally found his swing after starting the season on the DL.
  4. I have tickets to the game tonight, however I'm coming from Kalamazoo, MI... I see myself wasting a lot of gas for a game against KC that probably will be delayed all night or postponed. Oh well, i can't have these tickets in my possession and just not go so im praying the game actually happens and i improve the sox record while I'm in attendance to 5-0 this year!
  5. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 23, 2008 -> 10:57 AM) I'm suspicious of a lot of players in MLB. Few more than others. I'm just saying -- if someone referred to someone as little McGwire, little Sosa, little Palmeiro, I'd have to look twice. I know you realize this, but he is referred to as little Canseco because his batting stance and generally the way he looks on the field reminds people of Canseco. Because he has the same batting stance and is a good hitter it makes you suspicious? That's pretty lame IMO.
  6. thats easily the most impressed ive been with Dotel since we aquired him.
  7. i'll be there, the sox are 2-0 while im in attendance this year so let's hope the trend continues and this losing skid can finally end!
  8. I guess me and my cousin have been lucky compared to some of you. Last summer we were both 20 and tailgaited at 2 games and both times the golf cart guy came and just told us to head into the game. Same thing happened a couple weeks ago with us, except im now 21 and he still has a few weeks to go. I never even heard of them ripping peoples tickets up or taking them away. Why don't they give a rip at bears games if there's underage drinkers tailgaiting?
  9. hows it looking in chicago? im coming from michigan and the weather report isn't lookin to pretty...
  10. Ely is going to be real good. Nice to see Richard bounce back with a very strong outing.
  11. Pretty sure Poreda's going for Winston-Salem. Not sure who he's facing
  12. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Mar 18, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) Uribe will likely start the season at 2b. And he will be on a short leash. Dont be suprised if start the season with Crede-Cabrera-Uribe in the infield to start the opener. Its kind of funny with all the Uribe/Crede being traded talk that has happend. I think the 25 man roster is set. Starters Owens CF Cabrera SS Thome DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Swisher LF Pierzynski C Crede 3b Uribe SS Starting Rotation Buerhle, Vazquez, Danks, Contreras, Floyd Bullpen Jenks, Dotel, Linebrink, Thorton, Wasserman, Macdougal, Masset Bench Ozuna, Ramirez, Anderson, Hall In an interview i heard with Don Cooper during a game the other day he made it sound like Logan was pretty much a lock for a bullpen spot, so i wouldnt say your roster is set.
  13. I would definitely like to join the soxtalk fantasy baseball experience. ive done yahoo leagues the last 2 years. head to head or roto doesnt matter not commish please
  14. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) Cowley’s Top 5 … TUCSON, Ariz. – Top 5 observations to come out of the early days of spring training. 5. The Real Deal – It was instantly obvious on the first day of Nick Swisher’s arrival why general manager Ken Williams gave up so much to get him. If a lack of a swagger was truly one of the problems facing the White Sox clubhouse the last few years, problem solved. Swisher hasn’t had one at-bat on the South Side yet, but is already setting the stage to be one of the more popular players on the team. He has the grinder attitude of an Aaron Rowand, the cockiness of an A.J. Pierzynski and then brings his own style by dropping “man’’ in a sentence more than American Idol’s Randy Jackson. You need an example? “My old man played with the Cubs for all those years and told me about Chicago and what a great town it is,’’ Swisher said. “Man, it really is. I’ve had the chance to go there a few times and, I don’t know man, it’s like I’m getting giddy, like a little school kid.’’ 4. Good Ol’ Boy – Any concerns that a $56-million contract extension would change Mark Buehrle were quickly put to rest on Wednesday. The lefty starter was his usual trash-talking self in his first session against live hitters, and especially had fun with “Buehrle-Killer’’ Jermaine Dye. Dye, who has owned Buehrle throughout his career, took a swipe at one Buehrle pitch and broke his bat. Buehrle started laughing, and yelled to Dye that he wanted the cracked bat autographed. No word yet on if his request was met. 3. Turn the Page – Pitcher John Danks pitched like, well, a rookie the second half of last season, but is poised to have a breakout year. Why? The southpaw has been working on a cutter similar to Buehrle’s since late last year, and now seems to have it mastered. Case in point: On Wednesday, facing live hitters, Danks squared off with spring roommate Josh Fields. “He keeps telling me about this cutter,’’ Fields said, before the showdown. After the seven-pitch at-bat, Fields seemed impressed. “Wow, I guess he wasn’t kidding,’’ Fields added. “It was nastier than advertised.’’ 2. 65* - Outfielder Jerry Owens checked into camp on Tuesday, sounding, and looking, like he was all business. He’s sporting 10 pounds of muscle, as well as a fro that would make Linc from “The Mod Squad’’ jealous. Owens also called his own shot, predicting 65 stolen bases this season if he gets 500-plus at-bats. 1. Reality Check – As far as I’m concerned, few television shows rival MTV’s “Rob & Big,’’ but considering the living arrangements for Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski this spring, there’s a hit reality show in-waiting. “Boo-Zynski’’ just happens to be rooming with all 6-foot-6, 265 pounds of minor league conditioning coordinator Dale Torborg – aka “The Demon’’ from his days as a WCW wrestler. The introduction to the show itself would be priceless, with the theme song from “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father’’ playing. Pierzynski then tosses a Frisbee towards his roommate, and “The Demon’’ promptly catches it, takes a bite out of it and throws it on the ground in anger. You hear me Hollywood – do your job! I hope Danks' cutter is truely mastered. If true, I think he will have a much better season than last. Expecially considering hes with buehrle all day everyday...i expect him to make a big jump this year.
  15. anyone listen to or watch the AJ interview on the sox site? haha for each of the first two questions the reporter asked him, he replied instantly by saying "HUH!" both times. it was hilarious to me. the first time it seemed like it was because a question he didnt want to answer, but the second time had me laughing even harder.
  16. QUOTE(SoxWS05 @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 11:42 AM) I figure it's not going to be hard to buy tickets at the box office the day of the game this year. I'll just go whenever I feel like it, just like the old days. Especially since I got ripped on the Ozzie plan last year. I was about to go with the ozzie plan...howd you get ripped on it?
  17. QUOTE(shipps @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 12:48 PM) If Nick hits over .265 and 22 hrs I would be shocked.I like his personality and everything that goes with the way he plays the game but I just dont think he is a good fit for our club.If SO and the inability to make contact and be crafty with the bat was our weakness in the past how is it good to add to that weakness? how do you figure 22 hr's? the only way i see that happening is if he spends a decent amount of time on the dl.
  18. I wouldn't really understand the signing. Adding more payroll, age, and question mark in the health department isn't really what we need. I would rather stick with our youth than getting a mediocre veteran pitcher, especially when you dont even know what you will be getting in him. I would only want to acquire another SP if its a front of the line starter, otherwise let the young ones play.
  19. oh yeah i didnt even think about that. i knew he was pitching in the majors i was just trying to think of young pitchers that we traded
  20. what about kip wells? i thought he went with josh fogg in the todd ritchie trade? or was that in 99?
  21. this whole thread just seems too good to be true...so it probably will never happwn
  22. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) Oh crap!!!! I knew I missed someone. So with Ozuna, the bench is full with Uribe OR Crede staying, but not both. And you lack a true 1B in that mix, but I'd imagine someone could pick that up (at which point they'll tear a ligament and Ozzie will be made a pariah). swisher can play 1st too when paulie needs a day off
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) That makes sense. Owens as a 4th OF (probably what he needs to be anyway), playing some CF and LF off the bench and pinch-running. Ramirez to back up Richar at 2B and maybe get some time in the OF as well. So, the bench has (barring trades): Owens (LF, CF) Ramirez (2B, CF, RF) Hall © Uribe (SS, 3B)???? ???? Crede will be gone. And Uribe might be too. So, who is your backup for the left side of the infield? Uribe might stick around and be that guy for SS and 3B. That still leaves one more bench spot, most likely a lefty-hitting guy who can play corner IF... any ideas? Could the team go with just those 4 on the bench? Or maybe Crede stays too, and you get him part time at 3B, with Fields/Crede also relieving Thome at DH and PK at 1B? gotta put ozuna in there
  24. For those of you b****ing and complaining about how KW keeps making moves that still dont make us contendors, i dont know what you expect him to do. We have gotten incredibly younger over the last year. Bringing in Richar, Quentin, Ramirez, Swisher, and Fields, Danks, and Floyd being on the big league roster. All of which are making under $500,000/year. KW has done a good job at bringing in younger kids that he feels can compete at the major league level. if that means dealing with some top talent, then i'm ok with that. We may not have much of a farm system anymore, but at least we still dont look like the SF Giants and we are starting to look like a team that i'm actually going to want to pay to go see again!
