QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 27, 2014 -> 02:22 PM) anyone seen >> Unbroken or the Gambler??? I saw the Gambler on Friday. I was actually pleasantly surprised with it. If you can let a few ridiculous things slide then it was pretty good. If you start thinking too much during the movie then you start to realize the plot is kind of stupid. I was also stuff in the front row for this movie since it was a sellout. At least they were recliners in this theater instead of regular seats.

My wife actually was about 5 minutes into the first episode when I walked in the house after work last night. She started it over for me and finished the first episode. I can see how people get hooked on it. The fact that it is a real case is what has me so intrigued. Obviously some people are lying. My gut tells me Jay is full of it, but like others here have said he could be in on it with Adnan. Looking forward to more episodes.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 05:39 PM) Definitely didn't expect that. I was thinking that Cutler's time in Chicago was more or less done after the absolutely dreadful first 3 quarters against the Saints, but I didn't think they'd bench him. Agreed. I thought they would keep him as the starter for the rest of the season for sure then look into options during the offseason. Trestman's decision or somone higher up than him? -

I don't know how he could really recover from this. Being benched as the highest paid player in the league this season for Jimmy Clausen...I think I would be more surprised if he is on this team next season than if he wasn't. -

Sox acquire Jeff Samardzija and Michael Ynoa

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) Great guess. Or if it's just "pure hitting prospect" in our minors like Reed was, maybe Ravelo. He fits the OBP type Beane likes. That's exactly what I was thinking. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) I bet he likes Wilin Rosario. In my "what would you do in the offseason" post at the end of the regular season, I said I'd flip Dayan for Wilin Rosario. I don't know if Dayan is actually the right fit, but I don't think they're in love with Rosario over there. Rosario could DH against LHP and get most of the catching reps against RHP. I like how we matchup with the Rockies in a trade (hopefully for Dickerson), but not for Rosario. He is not a good defensive catcher. In fact, the Rockies have been trying to move him away from that position. Also, the Rockies already have like 6 major league outfielders. No room for Dayan.

Going to the Bulls/Nuggets game tonight. Finally get to see Rose live.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 10:13 PM) 1. Eaton CF 2. Ramirez SS 3. Gillaspie 3B 4. Abreu 1B 5. LaRoche DH 6. Garcia LF 7. Viciedo/FA Signing RF 8. Semien 2B 9. Flowers C Already better than last year I absolutely hate Gillaspie in the 3 hole. If we acquire a much better hitter to fill that spot then I will feel much better.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 19, 2014 -> 09:33 AM) Is Oakland committing to Murray? I've clinched a playoff spot but in line for a bye. I had McFadden all season and dropped him for Murray yesterday. The way I see it is McFad hasn't really done anything all season so why not take the risk on Murray. He might not do much but I think it's the right move.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 7, 2014 -> 08:14 AM) I did a pool on Sunday for just the 3pm games and was close to 1st place until midway in the 4th of the Pats/Den game. If Brady threw another TD to Edelman instead of Gronk, I would've been sweating it out, possibly winning $3000. Or if Kaep threw a TD to Vernon instead of fumbling. It's fun. I'd like to get 10 guys to commit before I created one on there. I'd be down for that. -
MLBtraderumors previews theWhite Sox offseason
kevo880 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I just don't see the Rockies FO trading Tulo or Cargo. They are fan favorites and they have said repeatedly over the last couple seasons that those 2 aren't going anywhere. The FO in Denver is so twisted. All they care about it the fan experience at the field, and bringing in quality men to their team instead of just searching for talent. Monfort refuses to fire O'Dowd. Any other team would have fired O'Dowd long ago...it's ridiculous. They fail to recognize that they need to adopt the philosophy that the White Sox finally have, in drafting and signing ground ball pitchers. -
Tony Stewart purposefully ran someone over?
kevo880 replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 25, 2014 -> 11:44 AM) It depends on what samples they took for the toxicology report. THC is metabolized by your body and is only detectable in blood for a few hours (similar to alcohol). If THC showed up in his blood sample, he would have had to smoke recently which is why they were able to determine he was probably under the influence. I see. I was unaware that it only stayed in your blood for a few hours. Who the hell would be professionally racing while high? -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 25, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) I guess all the people who were highly judgmental against Stewart will just move onto the next big news story. My question is, were they somehow able to tell that he was high at the time? THC stays in your system for 3-4 weeks on average unless you have virtually no body fat on you. Was he just a regular smoker or could they prove that he was high at the time? -
QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 07:37 PM) We did one in Kauai, which was awesome, in large part because the Na Pali coast is otherwise difficult to get to. It's expensive and a bit nerve wracking, but where else in the world would you rather go on a helicopter ride? Really depends on your budget. Hawaii is extremely expensive and a 2 person hour long (give or take) helicopter ride is ~ 700 bucks, so certainly an easy way to eat into your budget. We didn't do the open air, door open tour, but I sort of wish we had. Yeah I plan on not worrying about money too much while we are there, but I don't think it would do enough for me to drop $700 on it.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 04:49 PM) http://www.amazon.com/Maui-Revealed-The-Ul...k/dp/0983888736 This book has boatloads of information that I really liked. It's pretty well known and ppl refer to it as the blue book. Went to Maui/Kauai for our honeymoon last year. To be honest, we did much of the tourist stuff, but it was by far the most amazing trip I could imagine. Given the jet lag I figured we would do Haleakala sunrise the first morning. It was neat, sort of, but it takes way too much time and is crowded. I wouldn't do it again if I went back. Did the road to Hana clockwise. Worth doing, but again it takes the entire day, not sure I'd do it again, but if I did I would consider counterclockwise (back country first) to hike early at the 7 pools before it's crowded. The above book mentions tons of great falls and hikes that are very secluded along the road to Hana. I'd highly recommend checking them out. I also played golf at Wailea gold, which was amazing. Wanted to play plantation but it was closed for maintenance. Nicks fishmarket in the fairmont kea lani was one the greatest meals I've ever had. Mamas fish house is another tourist trap but is phenomenal atmosphere and food, and definitely worth going to. We also did a sunset booze cruise which was just ok quality food/drink and service, but you don't really care because it's so beautiful. Gotta go eat somewhere in Lahina as we'll. The truth of the matter is you are going to a place with some of the greatest beaches and resorts in the world. There are dozens of day trips you can do there, but you have to ask yourself do you want to spend half your day in the car on road to Hana, Haleakala etc. instead of bumming at a nearby beach, or going on somewhere a bit closer. Awesome, appreciate all of that info. I would love to go golfing there, but i think i would feel too guilty going on our honymoon unless i send her to a spa or something that morning. I will definitely have to grab that book in the near future. We have considered the road to Hana and Haleakala sunrise but haven't totally decided if we are going to do those yet. I agree with you that I want to make sure we take time to just enjoy being in paradise instead of traveling a lot of the time. Has anyone done a helicopter ride there? I've heard it's really cool, but not sure it is worth it.

I am getting married in about 6 weeks and will be honeymooning in Maui for a week. We will be renting a Wrangler for the duration of our stay. We know that is unnecessary, but we registered to allow people to pay for us to do certain things on our honeymoon and pitching in towards renting a vehicle is one of them. Getting to the point, we will have pretty easy access to the whole island and we are staying in Kahana on the NW side of the island. Any suggestions on things that we should do that might not be listed on every tourist website? Any recommendations are appreciated!

Teamworkonline is a must follow on twitter if you are looking for a job in sports. They list numerous openings everyday with different college and pro teams around the country. I am an AE with the Avalanche, and have worked with the Nuggets and Rapids in the past and many coworkers have told me they got their start in the sports biz from teamworkonline.

So stupid putting Bella in. Let Q get out of the jam. He was under 100 pitches. Bella freaking blows.

Gameday is saying Thome got ejected. I'm guessing this is a mistake and it was RV that got ejected? If it actually was Thome then that has to be one hell of a story.

At the Cubs vs Rockies game today. Needless to say Baez's power is massive. That second one today was very impressive.
