8/25 White Sox vs Rangers: Kay vs DeGrom 6:40 PM
I understand that, but a lot of pitchers who go in for holds in the 8th or 7th end up getting credited with a blown save when they weren’t in there for the actual save opp. Therefore, if you’re typically a 7th or 8th inning reliever / setup man, your save percentage will be artificially lower.

Uh…. Um…. No.

I noticed that they play the Indians soon and a couple of times in their remaining games. KC beats Cleveland and loses their ass to us. All is well in the white Sox world.

Lead is 3 runs or fewer or tying run at the plate: Save awarded for pitching the final inning and preserving the lead for a team win. Hold awarded for getting at least one out in a save situation and leaving with the lead intact.

Dude. That fucking sucked.

I’m telling you - the plan for Kwan is to hit him in the fucking head. Throw Jram on that plan too. Not serious injury “hit in the fucking head” more like knock the helmet off and back them off the plate for the rest of the series “hit in the fucking head”.

I don’t think .500 cuts it IMO. Cleveland is turning it on and have a few meh teams ahead of them. Play .500 and carry out operation SWEEP THE CENTRAL!!! In all seriousness… just take each of the series and sprinkle in a sweep here or there when it comes to our remaining games facing in division opponents. Do that and play .500 ball the rest of the way… we’re golden.

Montgomery's struggles...
I hope Venable leaves Colson at SS or 3rd tonight against the Texas starter LHP MacKenzie Gore. Colson hangs in there against LHP, maybe he sticks to his approach better. If Mune gets the day off that would be fine by me, maybe come in as a pinch hitter against an RHP.

How many of those were actual save opps in the 9th versus giving up a lead in the 7th or 8th, though?

Fegan on deadline acquisitions...
His moves were telling. To me they spoke of arrogance. He’s really firm in the belief in the departments he’s built and he’s really firm in his belief of our kids on the farm. I think that arrogance was shortsighted where there should have been a more balanced approach. There should have been more of a willingness to sacrifice some of the future for the present. Oh well… if it doesn’t pan out and he owns this, I’ll forgive it. If it pans out then he was right and he’ll earn some respect. Big gamble in my book. But then again, this team has responded every single time they are challenged or questioned… so maybe he has cause to feel such confidence. Another example we all likely forgot about was that Woods kid that we got in the Gonzo deal with Pittsburgh. Dude got lit up like a Christmas tree in his first Charlotte outing but has since gone something like 11 games 1.43 ERA and double digit strikeouts. That may be another example of taking on a project and his coaching staff bringing results.

Lock out 2027
Whatever happens with the CBA, I just hope the Sox get more beefed up in their scouting departments:

Changes are hard mid season which is why it’s strange that Getz went out and acquired two projects out of four total additions.

8/25 Games
Thorpe threw better than the line looked, after watching his outing. I won’t be shocked either way if they want to see another start or if he’s starting for the Sox on Sunday. Likely depends most on how other variables shake out in the coming days. Only discouraging things were the lower velo and him not going at least 5. Encouraging things, continues to get swing and miss while only facing soft contact.

Sam Antonacci Appreciation Thread
Twice is a trend. First pitch / first at bat… same thing ( nearly ). 😆 Days are better when Sam is being a Psycho. Winners feel sweeter. Colors are brighter. The sky is clearer. Gotta love it — Keep it rolling!

We wouldn’t be in this position if it weren’t for Peters. Very encouraging that he’s responded positively after the league adjusted their approach to him. Gives some faith that he’ll be able to maintain. It’s also nice that the team is being proactive in looking to develop others as fail safes ( Doyle / Bonemer ).

Thanks for the reminder as to why you’re a member of the Hall of Fame List. Carry on. My bad for giving it a read in the first place. 😆

Maybe, but it wouldn’t be the first time someone found something. Not saying he would be this again, but he could be a piece of the team going forward. 4th outfielder with Caleb in center.
