my argument is that the law of averages is undefeated. the red sox weren't actually a sub .500 team and Tristan Peters isn't actually an .800 ops hitter.

That why, despite the record so far, this organization is actually dysfunctional both at the managerial and general manager levels. The team playing above 500 (for now) has been a lark.

Boston should not have been needed to be thrown in that deal. Seattle wanted to move Castillo, they did not need a sweetener.

I think this is the way. I been saying, we could've traded for all these studs and still finish 4th. The division is very close. I'm taking our young players over the rest of the division though. I hope we don't regret moving Bawston in particular.

Sure, but he acquired three guys in Bart, Doyle and Castillo that have been awful this year and you wouldn’t want them on your team next year if the next few months don’t show improvement

I’m thinking along the lines that Getz is convinced that this team has reached its zenith and just doesn’t have the juice (even with a blockbuster trade or two) to stay atop their division for much longer and that he is now focused on next year and the years to come.

Need some Ozzie day magic to rub off on these boys tomorrow. They look lifeless. Which is rough because their youth and energy is what has gotten them here.

Sox were never playing for it this year. They came off 3 consecutive seasons of loosing 100 games and were filling in spot hoping for peeps in minors to step up like they have been doing. No one in baseball would have thought the sox would .500 much less over it competing. Then you throw in players getting injured or specs not progressing makes it worse. Going forward until the team sells its either going to be hoping fillers work out cause jerry would have to spend money on more competent players or start trading of the farm to get what they need.

What's the chance of no baseball next season...pretty good chance they don't play right? Why not go after rentals to help now and still not give up much from the minors?
