April 1, 200619 yr Author QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 10:59 AM) Hmmm. Not sure what to think about this one. Helluva gamble. Makes him easier to trade? I'd love to know what BMac thinks about this.
April 1, 200619 yr Well, looks like BMac will be taking the Neal Cotts route. I think more people teams would've seen Contreras more attractive with just the 1 year deal at the deadline so if he flops or they don't like him, they don't have to worry about it. I like Contreras alot though, so I'm glad we resigned him. I hope this isn't an April Fools Joke. I would be pissed if it was. Edited April 1, 200619 yr by nitetrain8601
April 1, 200619 yr QUOTE(G&T @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) Makes him easier to trade? I'd love to know what BMac thinks about this. If he starts 2006 like he did 2005, he might not be so easy to trade. He may win the CY award this year, or he may revert back to the inconsistant Contreras we are all used to.
April 1, 200619 yr QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) Anyone know if this could be an April Fool's joke? Good Point!
April 1, 200619 yr This better not be an April Fool's joke. Contreras @ 29M for three years is a STEAL in today's market. Contreras has a shot at the Cy Young award if he continues to pitch as he is able.

April 1, 200619 yr Anyone know the breakdown of how long we have the starting 5 locked up for? Edited April 1, 200619 yr by Shingotime!!

That's true, but he has proven that he can win now, other teams might gamble for a pitcher at that price. I just don't get why you make this deal with BMac being here.
April 1, 200619 yr Was it Mike North's show who announced it? I know they usually do a yearly April Fool's joke...

April 1, 200619 yr QUOTE(Shingotime!! @ Apr 1, 2006 -> 12:07 PM) Anyone know the breakdown of how long we have the starting 5 locked up for? Buehrle is signed through 2006, with a team option for 2007 Garcia is signed through 2007 Vazquez is signed through 2007 Garland is signed through 2008 If new deal is true, Contreras would be signed through 2009.

April 1, 200619 yr Same contract as Garland? I thought they he wanted more than that before they broke off negotiations. If it is true, that is a bargain. Edited April 1, 200619 yr by RME JICO
