  1. They already voted to confirm him pending the investigation. So unless they find some sort of earth shattering revelation or unearth some actual evidence he'll be confirmed.
  2. Not really. The prosecutor had a very specific purpose which she failed miserably doing so. As far as the calendar goes I would have never released it to opposing counsel I think it was a mistake for the very reason you mention. Ford basically has an allegation without a time or place the media and her counsel will use that calendar to try to find a date and place where their allegations fit. Which beyond being unfair it's extremely dangerous standard the date and place she alleges the assault should come from her memory not his calendar.
  3. Do I think we'll get value tremendous value? Probably not. Still there is no point in wasting another year of valuable time. Get what we can from these guys and move on. Abreu doesn't have much control left it's pointless to pretend we will be contenders next year.
  4. Neither. None of us really have any idea how good some of these guys are in AA/AAA or where the needs will be in the next 2-3 years. Signing someone now seems like a really bad decision. Also I'd rather use that kind of money to retain our own guys and fill in any holes with productive vets. 10 year deals is just a terrible idea.
  5. This team has too many holes and with TJ for Kopech this seems like an incredibly stupid idea. If anything we should be tearing things down further. We need to move Abreu in the offseason as well as Garcia. Bring in some high ceiling vets on shortterm deals then try to go for it the following year with Kopech coming back and having seen some of the young guys in AA/AAA we should have a good idea then.
  6. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/24838260/chicago-white-sox-batters-break-single-season-strikeout-record No team in major league history struck out more times than the 2018 Chicago White Sox. The White Sox set a single-season record Saturday night for the most times their batters have struck out when Minnesota Twins starter Kyle Gibson fanned Yoan Moncada and Yolmer Sanchez to lead off the game. It was fitting that Moncada was involved in tying the mark -- the 23-year-old leads the majors in whiffing 216 times this season.
  7. Well if it ever gets narrowed to a specific day they could followup where he said he was and how he spent his time that day. I think honestly made a major mistake releasing it he should have just said he had it and not released it until the accusation had a specific date. Now the opposing counsel can basically go over his day to day life in 82 and pick a day where he had the most free time.
  8. Which means nothing. Ford claimed she was there and therefore could corroborate her claims and she can't. We also have no idea whether she told her therapist he was a judge she admitted she gave an overview of the notes to the press verbally not the notes themselves. That was one of the questions asked the only two people who have seen the notes were her and her lawyer. Of course that is sort of one of the problems of the prosecutor she asked the question but never followed up with the significance of Fords answer. People were sort of left to draw their own conclusion. Also I find certain aspects of her story not credible others are. I would have liked to have the right questions asked and had a better picture of how the allegation came about and the possible motivations might be besides what she gave. I also would have liked her to have given a more specific date so rather then a blanket denial we could have heard what Kavanaugh was doing that day. He offered up a calendar it would be very easy to refute or corroborate her claims. In any case the democrats got their wish there will be an FBI investigation so really I am more confident in the details that come from that then any congressional testimony.
  9. Actually you have four people giving sworn statements. Ford says it happened. Her friend at the time says she was at no such party. Judge says he was never at any such party. Brett says he wasn't at any such party. This isn't he said - she said this is she said everyone else says and actually there were numerous times I didn't find her statements credible, it's just she just wasn't challenged on those beyond just pointing it out. For example she names 4, 6 , and sometimes five people at the party. For example she claimed she had a fear of flying which is clearly false. For example she says the event deeply effected her life but struggles to narrow it down when it happened not by weeks, not by months, not even by a year but by chunks of years first it was the late 80's then it was the early 80's then it was the summer of 82 (92 days). For example she says she is 100% certain it was kavanaugh but is unsure of the time, place, and who else was there. She never mentions Kavanaugh by name to either husband or her therapist. Nor to anyone else for 30 some odd years until now. For example there is no record of her going to the police. Kavanaugh calendar indicates he likely wasn't at a party during the summer in question. I hope the FBI asks her those questions and I also hope she is able to narrow it down to an actual day so Kavabaugh has a chance to respond to her claims other then with blanket denials.
  10. First of all, there isn't any evidence she was a victim you may believe she was but your beliefs do not constitute facts. Two, she was asked about the way in which she reported the assault at no point did she mention wanting to goto the police and file a report. In any case it appears there will be an FBI investigation so we shall see. I doubt anything comes of it unless someone comes forward with new testimony or information.
  11. I wasn't caught misrembering anything she mentioned a specific date in her accusation period when she revised her statement which I was unaware of she once again mentioned a specific date. You seem think somehow attacking me makes Ford claims more credible. It doesn't. As far as the rest goes once again the media reported the state did not have a statue of limitations and numerous journalists including Meadow said he could goto jail. If they are wrong then that is unfortunate but that is not my fault I'm not a lawyer I'm only repeating the details I've read elsewhere from mainstream sources but even if the article you posted from the WP is true it still doesn't remove the fundamental question of why she didn't goto the police because she would have been unaware of that nuance in existing law. She made no mention of this in her testimony either infact her statements were the exact opposite of what I was sort of expecting a victim to say she said she went to the media to and her congresswoman to stop Brett Kavanaugh getting to the SC which sounds great at first blush but once you think about it why was that the goal? Shouldn't it been to get justice? Bringing it back to the actual subject the ladies claim once again the facts haven't changed. She can't name the time, can't name the place, can't name all the people involved, can't remember how she got to the event or how she got back. Has changed the timeframe by close to a decade at points and her claims have been refuted by everyone else who she claims to have been involved. Those are the facts whether someone believes miss ford, believes the mumbo jumbo you spouting earlier, doesn't believe kavanaugh, it shouldn't and doesn't matter. We cannot allow accusations without evidence to ruin political careers or destroy people lives that is a return to some of the darkest chapters of American history like McCarthyism.
  12. My memory isn't weak at all I remember her making an assertion of when the assault took place. Period. I wasn't aware she changed her story by a week at a later date but you are making irrelevant assertions. Miss Ford has still yet to come up with a time or place where it happened as of now and after three times not changing her answer by a week but by years has somehow narrowed down her claim to 92 days but has still yet to give a specific date. The point was the case would have never been brought forward otherwise and Ford has yet to name a specific date. Why does that matter? Because how is the FBI or really anyone supposed to investigate her claims? How is Kavanaugh supposed to disprove an event the accuser herself doesn't know when it occurred? How is the FBI going to investigate a claim for something she doesn't know the date of and is unsure of where it happened? The only thing they can do is interview the witnesses again and unless they change their testimony nothing changes. Kavanaugh meanwhile is stuck in an impossible position of trying to restore his reputation against an accusation that doesn't have a time or place. Also it is my understanding from media reports that because of the state the alleged assault took place (she was able to narrow it down that far) it does not have a statue of limitations on attempted rape/rape. If my information is incorrect then I apologize but that is what I got from media reporting.
  13. There is so much nonsense there first of all Cosby never denied he had sex he claimed it was consensual so the timing was never as important because the event took place he admitted it. The question was at the time: was it consensual? Clearly it was not. Two the dates we are talking about are much different in cosby case we are talking about a couple of weeks difference to me that isn't unusual and she was specific in her deposition she changed her answer by a couple of weeks she didn't give an entire season! In Fords case we are talking decades she moves from late 80's, to early 80's, to the specific year of 82 and the season of summer. She claims it deeply affected her life but doesn't remember the time it started not even the year. That is to me not credible. If the Republicans weren't such cowards they would have questioned her on this. They would have asked why she forwarded the allegation to the media and her democrat congresswoman instead of where it belonged the police. They would ask why to this day has she not filed a police report. They would have asked her how can she be so sure it was kavanugh when she is so unsure of the other important details like time, place, who was there, who drove her there and back. They would have asked like I said earlier had she received any tangible benefits from an outside group. They would have questioned why her friend never remembers any such party. They would ask her why she refused to mention by name Kavanaugh to either her therapist or her husband but they didn't they instead worried about the political ramifications of asking tough questions allowed her to skate on the tough issues then hired an incompetent prosecutor that asked a bunch of irrelevant questions.
  14. How can it come back any differently? She can't name the time. Can't name the place. Can't name the people. The people who she does name don't remember it happening including her own personal friends. Meanwhile Kavanaugh has detailed notes of where and who he was with during the summer including possible corroboration should the timing of this alleged party ever be revealed.
  15. What kind of nonsense is this? Who determines the truth? Very few sexual assault cases go to trial and even fewer end in convictions. I don't have the stats infront of me for America but in canada something like 1/10 reported cases ended in convictions and more troubling 1/5 are dismissed by police as baseless. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/one-in-10-substantiated-sex-assaults-result-in-conviction-statscan/article36731269/ So I don't know where that "stat" came from but it's likely fake news.
  16. It was a show trial. And if you admit the claims are not provable in a real court of law what are we talking about? Why proceed with the farce at all? It certainly isn'ty in the interest of justice for Ford or Kavanaugh
  17. People get away with a great many things for a variety of reasons. The American justice system is not perfect. But what is the alternative? We engage in show trials like we've seen with Kavanaugh where instead of the focus being on the law and what you can prove it's instead of what you believe and the American public gives the thumbs up or thumbs down depending on their politics? Or maybe we should go back to the age of frontier justice where a wife or relative makes a claim then we go round up a posse to deal with them. No thanks. I like due process. I like the idea everyone is innocent until proven guilty. I think we've evolved since those days
  18. That set of demands doesn't legitimize anything except due process for both the accuser and the accused. If you can't name the time, place, or who was there or really anything including who drove you there and who drove you back then I don't care about a bunch of mumbo jumbo speak from quacks. There really isn't anything to consider all of Cosby accusers could name the time, place, when it happened and they were drugged. They went to the police not their democratic congresswoman. That is how it's supposed to be done.
  19. You talk about the time, place, and who else was there like it is the color of the drapes the information is central to her claim and the information related to her lawyers is very specific I was talking more broadly. I would have asked if she received a tangible benefit or the promise of one as it relates to her accusation if the answer was no it makes her testimony all the more powerful. If the answer is yes then it calls things into question regardless it was an answer the American public deserved to know.
  20. What I don't understand is if the lady isn't sure of the time, place, who drove her home, who else was there. How can she say for 100 percent certainty it was kavanaugh? Why didn't that dumbass prosecutor followup with that question? Why didn't they follow up and ask if someone paid for her polygraph is anyone paying for her lawyers? Anyone paying for testimony? Could not be true but the question should have been asked. Also the question should have been asked why she has never went to the police even after her decided to pursue her allegation why was her first contact congress (democrat) and the media? Not a LEO? I have no idea if her claims actually were credible. She wasn't challenged on the shifting numbers, times, or place it occurred., She wasn't challenged at all. Brett was I guess that is what it means to be a man in America.
  21. The great thing about baseball is it lends itself to radio. You can do other things with your headphones on. I quite often do work around the house and the yard while listening to games. People talk about radio being a dying medium but it really isn't. It's great I listen and absorb so much information while doing monotonous jobs not just baseball but podcasts on house improvement, cars, technology, politics. Even on my way to work I'll usually put on Mark Levin who I have on podcast. People have more free time then they think.
  22. Here is the thing sports is a hobby don't allow it to take over your life and you'll be fine everything can be dissected in that way. My wife always gets annoyed Sunday when she wants to do something and football is on I say to her it's the same time every week. One day a couple of hours. Meanwhile she can't miss like 3 stupid "reality" TV shows every week. Take sometime to yourself to enjoy your hobby eventhough others might find them silly. I was much more active earlier this year but honestly the faith I had in Hahn has been severely undermined by his shortsighted decisions this year. There is no process. So yeah I've sort of tuned out as well. Haven't watched a game in over a month no interest in watching a slow motion train wreck with no process in place to get us where we need to be afterwards. Partly is time but a bigger reason is like everything in life you'll find the time if there is a compelling reason to watch either via PVR your phone etc. Right now there are more reasons to tune out the Sox then tune in.
  23. Blaming the coaching is the easiest thing in the world but at some point we just have to accept who these players are.
  24. Not going to lie after the Sale, Q, and Eaton trades I was one hundred percent behind Hahn remaining in charge and seeing the rebuild through now I'm not sure. This season has been a total disaster not by the record because we all knew we were going to suck but he doesn't move Abreu. He has a down year and gets injured. Doesn't move Avi he's worth a fracton of what he was at the start of this offseason. Drafts an overhyped midget to play 2B with no power. Has an totally unforced error bringing up kopech for reasons only he knows then he gets TJ meaning we will lose at least a years service time probably two. Doesn't get great returns on the trade he did make. I created a thread in the offseason entitled trust the process the problem isn't that I put faith in the idea of a rebuild is that Hahn is fundamentally flawed and is incapable of operating a proper rebuild and has no process. The rumors of a Machafo trade in the offseason were dismissed by me out of hand now I'm not so sure
  25. This is why it was so stupid to call him up. Say good bye to two years of service time.
