2030 is 6 years from 2024. Pouncing on any talk of a rebuild had nothing to do with free agency spending. Speculation drifted out past 2030 because Getz was nowhere near as smart as the keyboard koaches who could spell-check "incompetence" and "accountability". The point you seem to be trying to dunk on was that Hahn/KW made many mistakes in the last rebuild. They drafted 1-dimensional projects with top picks. They neglected investment in overall development at all levels. They traded all their stars, and most of the trades were garbage. You remind us regularly that JR didn't spend in free agency for that rebuild, either. Yet, they made back-2-back playoff appearances in 4 years with the bare minimum of competence. This time, they started in a deeper hole, and this team got relevant faster. Chris Getz created a very good team for you to jump on the bandwagon. Don't worry, there's room for all of you glum chums to declare that you were right all along and were telling everyone about Dave Wilder before that was a thing. LOL.

All the listicles have dried up as the Sox move up their rankings, too. This morning, they find themselves on an 87-win pace. Caulfield and SS2k5 must have been using the same calculator that now mysteriously doesn't work.

I keep forgetting about Baldwin. I think of this group going forward: IF: Murakami, Meidroth, Colson, Vargas, Gonzo OF: Ant-man, Peters, B. Monty, Baldwin, Pereira Your Sunday and getaway lineups would be as strong as the regulars.

You've been a big part of pushing the narrative that the Sox won't be competitive for 6-10 years. I don't get what you're taking credit for, here.

I feel pretty confident in saying this team isn't going to break their own loss record this season. They'd have to go 26-69 here on out to lose 100. I don't think that's happening, either.

Frankly, I can't wait until Ishbia takes over, cleans house, and hires a real GM to rebuild this franchise from the ground up, the right way!

This season is beginning to feel like 2005. The coverage just seemed to come out of nowhere. ESPN started leading off their 10:00 Sports Center with the story of that night's Sox game.

Hahn's last rebuild was a couple Cuban signings and two productive trades, really. In retrospect, we now know there were so many missteps. Through bad drafts, neglecting development, bad trades, rushing their prospects, putting first basemen in the outfield, cheaping out in free agency, it took 4 years and they still made the post season 2 years in a row at the end of that. I never understood the insistence that we were 6-10 years away from being competitive. This team looks like they're going to have a bottleneck with offensive prospects, like, as soon as Pereira comes off the IL. Last year's insane number of TJS's thinned out their pitching depth. I can't imagine what this organization will look like once International starts cooking.

With the complaints that arise every time the Sox pluck an arm off of waivers, you'd think good teams like the Braves are always calling up a top 10 prospect for bullpen work. Not so. They all sort through the same garbage. Hell, the Sox are even too good to roster somebody like Rowdy Tellez.

I don't know. I go on Fangraphs, look at 2025 leaders, sort on Catchers, and 4 players in the game caught 120 or more, highest being Realmuto at 132. Maybe these guys DH on their off days, but if I switch to shortstops, there's 21 players who played in at least 120 games at shortstop. Going back to 2021, nobody gets past 132 games at catcher, and it's only under 5-6 guys in the game even getting over 120.

You did say relevance. But I agree with you, they won't settle on Roch for the relationship, but there's a lot of groundwork that's already laid. As they scout and evaluate, while they haven't talked money with other kids, they probably did with Roch and his people and have knowledge and comfort in how they'll comport themselves in the process.

What has changed with Cholowsky to make any relationship with his family and agent completely non-relevant besides you just thinking that? Most prognosticators have Roch as one of if not the top prospect in this year's draft. Nobody is saying that because there's a relationship, Roch is a surefire first round pick regardless of any other evidence. But it is a factor in whom they choose, and a lot of groundwork in any discussions has already been established and is known.

I find these arguments the same as the "veterans don't make a difference on a team" ones. The evidence is usually just, "Well, I don't think they do." The established relationship wouldn't matter if Roch fundamentally changed as a draftable prospect over the last 2-3 years. He's only gotten better.
