  1. The weird part is that Mead has reverse splits, where he's hitting RHPs way better than LHPs. Woo is a righty.
  2. So, by somebody's definition, both Scholtens and Noda are extremely valuable players.
  3. I think if you picked up 6 random pitchers and 5 of them worked out, that would be a good hit ratio.
  4. Interesting interview, with Hahn and Jon Daniels, talking about the job of GM, Hahn tells some vague, PC stories about trades he made or didn't make, deadline philosophies, etc. The South Side Blueprint With … - Rosters to Rings Podcast - Apple Podcasts
  5. I only watched a couple episodes of the Red Sox doc on Netflix, but I think there's a running subplot with the wife of one of the players living in a hotel with the kids. It's gotta suck dumping everything on the wife to keep the family going, and all.
  6. Is that Pete Ward? That was ***just*** before my time. We had a media guide or something that bounced around the house about the '59 team. I was born in 63, so I was fully sentient around 71. Weird how, with baseball cards, there's a whole aura around guys you just missed. I'd be looking at my Don Buford card and wondering why nobody told me about his time on the White Sox.
  7. Counsel said Soroka's going on the IL. God, that sucks. 2024 was such a horrible year, and I'm really rooting for guys like Soroka.
  8. Dude hasn't had 100 PAs, yet. He's a weird case. Sox rushed him his first year, and he responded, then got injured, so the prospect analysts had no idea what he really was. And neither do we, really. His BA and OBP are dropping steadily, but he's not really "slumping" and logging 0-fers over days and days. He does seem to be able to field, so you can cross that off your list.
  9. I really wish good things for Houser the rest of the way (except in the Sox series). He seems like him and his wife have had a rough year with the newborn and the flux of changing teams, and all. Some Twitter peeps are LTFAO, and I'm just SMH. I hope he pulls it together and draws a good contract this winter.
  10. Conversely, if they play at that .420 rate the rest of the way from today, on (42-70), they'd go 21-29 the rest of the way, or finish at 63-99. Their difficulty of schedule has dropped from 3rd hardest to 12th hardest, rest of the way.

  12. Just the first two I found.
  13. Sounds like somebody not employed by the White Sox is really mad the White Sox are hanging on to Robert. The more Nightengale goes off, the better I feel about not trading Robert.
  14. 11 out of how many times they took a lead into the 7th inning.
  15. Can you explain what you're talking about here? Was there some trade of Hagen Smith for a prospect that has bottomed out that hasn't been reported yet? Or was there some rumored deal that Getz opted out of? Young prospects who haven't caught fire in their first couple of MLB stints, like Miguel Vargas and Curtis Mead are not routinely available on the waiver wire. They're so rare that I only remember one, Alexander Canario, getting floated all season.
  16. Most players aren't going to move the needle more than a couple of wins. You don't need to envy my definition. A player adding 2+ wins can be your definition of moving the needle, too. It's perfectly reasonable. A bunch of people said this team would lose more games than last year, so no, I don't agree with you that it would have been hard to not be better. The league didn't take players away from other teams and put them on the White Sox to make it fair. The league didn't gift runs to the Sox so that they could win more games this year. It's easy to criticize every single move a team makes, then when they work, pretend that it would have been hard for those moves to not work.
  17. Tauchman and Houser moved the needle quite a bit.
  18. Oh well. We won another series. Get angry and take it out on the Mariners.
  19. Uh, DeWayne? Chris Singleton was sneaky good for a season or two.
  20. The Sox have 19 games after today against probable playoff teams. (Sea(3), Det(6), Yanks(7), SD(3)) If they go an insane 10-9 in those games, they then have 31 games against other teams that they'd have to play at a 28-3 pace against. (Cle(6), KC(6), Atl(3), Min(7), TB(3), Bal(3), Was(3)) I have argued that it's possible for the Sox to play close to .500 ball the rest of the way, but I don't see them ending up a .500 team for the season.
  21. I thought Monty could be a 2-3 WAR player somewhere on the diamond. Yum yum crow.
  22. Maybe Dombrowski is angry enough to say what he had on the table for Robert.
