Time Marches on: Royals at Sox 6:40 CDT 6/26

Sandlin for us, Kolek for them. We really need to win this series. Offense needs to start plating baserunners again and hopefully we get some better BABIP luck both ways.

Would really love to see Sandlin v1 - we would benefit from that type of a development leap more than anything else at this time.

Someone has to step up at the back of the rotation otherwise we're gonna continue to rely on 6+ to win it 2 out of every 5 games, not ideal.

He's old and he has had some pretty bad health scares in the past.

Let's sweep these fucks! I fucking hate the royals and their fans. Went to a Sox game at Kauffman in 2023 with my husband and step daughter and got heckled the whole damn time by some frat boy douches saying we should be cubs fans since we are the right color and other bullshit like that. Then when the game was over, some 50 year old frat boy douche got right in my face and screamed White Sox suck and spit all over me. And this was a Wednesday day game in the rain haha. Not like anyone should have been that wasted. Unfortunately I was exhausted because we were driving back from our vacation so I didn't say much back. I did manage a shouldn't you be cardinals fans to the young douches and are the royals good? to the old douche. But what the f***? Does having mahomes just make that whole city insufferable or something?

Too bad it wasn’t the Skubal game that he was miced up 😆

You know what’s strange is it seems like both him and Pat Hughes on the other side of town seem to be sick. Neither are spring chickens, I hope they are ok

The Royals were two outs away from being no hit yesterday before Craig Kimbrel came in for the Rays and allowed a walk and HR. Not sure if that leaves them more motivated or demoralized for this series, but I guess we'll find out.

Witt Jr has been on the bench and in a knee brace for the past week, but the hope for KC is that he plays today. Maikel Garcia and Pasquantino are both on the IL. Old friend Josh Rojas is off to a hot start as an injury call up in a small sample size.

Despite the injuries and near no-hitter, KC has a .784 OPS as a team this month. Cags and Jensen have both been on fire.

KC pitching has struggled more (4.96 team ERA) so hopefully the Sox can take advantage and add to their 5-2 season series lead.

Sox saw Kolek back in May and tagged him for a big 5 run inning in a 6-5 win. Meidroth and Romo hit HRs, and Ant tagged a double.

A few things:

  1. I really want the Sox to sweep KC. We owe so badly after they have embarrassed the Sox so badly the last two years.

  2. I think Sandlin will do fine tonight, especially if Witt is out tonight.

  3. Has Vasil put on weight, significant weight? Look at his face in that picture and when you see him in the dugout, he looks heavy. I don’t remember at all thinking he was “larger” like that when he was pitching last year.

Stephen Kolek just went on the paternity list (congrats to him), so he won't start tonight.

Steven Cruz will open instead. Big 6'7" RHP with a 6+ ERA on the season, but a solid 3 ERA this month. 1-2 inning guy.

Kolek's replacement on the roster is RHP Mitch Spence, so he might be the bulk guy tonight? He's made two 4 inning appearances in MLB this season, and given up 6 ER in both (NYY and WSH, so two good offenses). 6+ ERA in 48.2 innings at AAA.

Would behoove the Sox to put up a couple crooked numbers on these guys and tax the KC pen for the series.

BWJ is playing, but at DH. Probably won't run as much if the knee isn't 100% yet.
