  1. Fedde's been getting slapped around over his last 4-5 starts. I wonder if he gets a phantom injury, becomes the mop up dude, or DFA.
  2. Good for him. There really was no room for him on this roster.
  3. Rikuu's callup has a Duke Ellis vibe to it. They're not going to call up Gonzo to sit. He's an infielder, and he's not displacing any of Vargas, Colson, Meidroth or Mune.
  4. Yes, I believe he has to agree to it.
  5. One foot in the door, the other one in the gutter...
  6. I was rooting for the guy. Still am. I cannot fathom having that kind of talent and being unable to tap into it. He did kind of pull it back from the horrors of his 2025 campaign. A guy like Kelenic seems to have Angels written all over him. That would probably be the end for him.
  7. I just read somewhere...MLBTR(?)...that MLB free agents can't be traded until about June 15th, or so. But I could see Hays gone. Hill and Peters are great defensive subs, and Grichuk looks a lot better as a platoon option than Hays did when playing. Kelenic makes sense. Acuña has a little utility that Kelenic doesn't - that buys him another week.
  8. It's a play on words. I flipped paper and field. It means nothing. Live. Love. Laugh.
  9. He's a high OBP slap-hitter who steals bases. What's not to love?
  10. But on the field, they should have a paper day against the Sox.
  11. This keeps the lefty-righty balance intact for Will's platoon fascination.
  12. Somebody call the police!!
  13. I would imagine his family knows.
  14. Here's Fangraph's writeup this spring: Chicago White Sox Top 40 Prospects | FanGraphs Baseball 35. Jacob Gonzalez, UTILDrafted: 1st Round, 2023 from Ole Miss (CHW) Age 23.7 Height 6′ 2″ Weight 200 Bat / Thr L / R FV 35+ Tool Grades (Present/Future) Hit Raw Power Game Power Run Fielding Throw 30/35 45/45 30/40 40/40 45/50 50 Whatever wound the White Sox front office felt about Kyle Teel getting popped a pick before Gonzalez in the first round of the 2023 draft, they’ve obviously been able to mostly heal. Still, at the time, Gonzalez was selected as a safer, high-floored SEC performer at a premium spot who was willing to sign under slot, enabling a $1 million swing on the boom-or-bust George Wolkow six rounds later. But upon arrival in pro ball, Gonzalez’s college pull power production was immediately revealed to be enabled by selling out for the inner half of the plate, and a myriad of swing and setup tweaks to straighten out his direction – and subsequently build a new loading action – have yet to produce consistent results. Still a lanky 6-foot-2 after a couple years in a pro strength program, Gonzalez is a graceful athlete but not an explosive one. He has below-average raw power, and a mid-season promotion to Triple-A Charlotte, one of minor league ball’s best launching pads, still saw him hit just two homers and post a sub-.100 ISO in 45 games. His strikeout rate spiked to 20% in the International League, and his avoidance of punchouts has typically oversold his raw contact ability because of how pesky he can be spreading out his stance with two strikes, allowing him to fight out almost anything but to little useful contact. He generally plays the middle infield with the sort of headiness and play clock that allows him to transcend a lack of typical shortstop range, but Gonzalez’s hands looked out of sync at times last season as the Sox shifted him toward more utility work. He profiles as an up-down sixth infielder at present.
  15. I don't think Nishida's a very good defender. He doesn't cover shortstop, so he's mostly a backup corner OF and 2B.
  16. Barely an old acquaintance, but a good philosophy
  17. I hope the guy gets to see a total eclipse of the Sun in his lifetime.
  18. Don't hate the game. Hate the playahs.
  19. Apparently, I could get stuff at a truck stop that would make my hard on visible from space.
  20. Nor did I have septuagenarians wringing out "Bingo card" yet again, to make some sort of point. Listen to this and get hip, daddio
  21. I still have faith in the Sox' ability to find the odd Yoendrys Gomez and polish him up to a shaky #5, but they're not first in line for waivers, anymore. I'd say Davitt is first up at this point.
  22. The only way this matters is if you think there's a pitcher out there who is way overpaid, their team wants out, and the Sox see a quick fix. The Angels just signed Taijuan Walker, and they both seem each other's speed, at this point.
  23. I've known enough dudes in my life who subscribe to that s%*#. I've relied on being me. It only had to work once, I'm married. I'm good.
