  1. Interesting approach. I've always thought it would be better to focus on the right fielder's ear, but the pitcher's hand does seem to make more sense.
  2. One of the most popular things about Collins that people like to say here is that “nobody outside of the organization seems to think he will stick at catcher.” I guess that is no longer an accurate statement.
  3. Spun his wheels and never got going full speed again.
  4. That replay is exactly how I know it hit him. You could see the ball slightly change directions. No doubt in my mind.
  5. How is everybody in this thread claiming that pitch didn't hit Grossman? There is no doubt in my mind that it hit him. What are you guys watching?
  6. I'm not trying to claim the team record when he pitches should determine how good he has been pitching, but it does show that he is giving the team a chance to win. The ERA in July and August is high because of a couple horrible starts, but 7 of his last 10 starts have been good/great outings. Sometimes the team's record isn't a very a good indicator of how somebody has pitched (like with DeGrom), but for Giolito, I think it is a pretty indicator over his last 10 starts. We won two games where he pitched terrible, but we lost two games where he pitched very well.
  7. I would say that Giolito has stepped up during the second half. The Sox are 7-3 in the last 10 games he has started, so I'd say he is giving them a chance to win. Also, two of those three losses are by a score of 2-1.
  8. Bush with an RBI double.
  9. Moncada slashing .500, .667, 1.000 since moving to the 8 hole.
  10. Yeah, I totally get that. I’m just asking why round 33 was the time to pull the trigger. Why not wait until round 35? Why not earlier, say round 30?
  11. If we liked him so much, I wonder what made us decide that round 33 was the time to pull the trigger. Would another team have taken him later in round 33? Why didn’t we take him in round 31 or 32?
  12. If they used this site to make decisions, Moncada would have been in AAA a long time ago.
  13. Then why not just start the innings with a guy on second base instead?
  14. I think swinging at that first pitch might have been huge. If he falls behind, he might be too worried to groove one, and he would have just walked.
  15. Gotcha. Thanks. On a separate note, that lineup is just awesome to follow. I think I'm higher on Gonzalez than I am Basabe, Rutherford, and Adolfo. I'm envisioning a future outfield from left to right of Eloy, Robert, Gonzalez. Although Basabe is a year younger than Gonzalez, right? And he's doing pretty well at AA. Good problem to have.
  16. His exact quote was, "We would just want to make sure he’s as well-rounded as possible, whether that be base running, defensively, obviously offensively...and we’re getting very close." That's not as definitive as saying, "he will be called up very soon", like some people are claiming. Not trying to call you out with this post. Just trying to point out that quotes get twisted and taken out of context a lot.
  17. I'm confused. You hope they change it to an error?
  18. Same here. Very cruel thread bump.
  19. Wow, I really hope those guys move up in the system together and continue to have success. That's a great looking lineup.
