Sox Sign Kelvin Herrera; 2 years/$18 mil, 3rd yr club option; Clarkin DFA
So does this mean Chili's source on Manny loving the Sox visit is accurate, too?

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
I think Shane Riordan claimed Manny would sign with thee Sox this morning. I'm guessing that's what he means, but I could be wrong.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Give him 8 for $260, call it a day, and move on to Harper.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
It’s nice for us that Harper is waiting. We could use that as leverage with Manny. “Look, we’re willing to increase our offer to X amount, but if you’re still gonna wait around, we will push our chips all in on Harper.”

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Start with 7 for $200 and then increase it with some leverage with opt outs if no other teams are going that high. “Ok, we’ll increase it to 8 for $260 with only one opt out after 6 years.”

Pending White Sox Move? (*May contain partially digested news)
Haha, thanks. I really like the Nicholas Cage one. If he has a good year at the box office this year, no way will I be hanging around any swimming pools.

I came here to post exactly this. Well said.

Pending White Sox Move? (*May contain partially digested news)
Normally, I HATE when people claim they know something but won’t share it, but I gotta side with Joe on this one. Because of his previous scoop about Manny and his Chicago visit, it would help his credibility to have this scoop correct. And he can’t wait until after it’s announced because then people would just claim he is lying about already having the scoop and still wouldn’t believe the Manny info.

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Don’t engage. This place is much better when there is no back and forth with him.

No worries. We’re getting Machado and Harper now, so I don’t think anybody will be upset with you.

Pardon my ignorance, but who is bucket/macsandz?

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
What’s even more absurd is that he said 2022 would be the earliest if everything worked out PERFECTLY. To me, perfectly means Giloito and Lopez make huge strides this year and are solid middle of the rotation pieces. Moncada is an all star. Kopech and Cease are TOR starters in 2020. Rodon figures it all out and is the ace we’ve been waiting for. Robert and Madrigal fly through the system in 2019 and are all stars with the big league club in 2020. Palka turns into a stud DH. And our young bullpen arms become above average major leaguers. That is everything going perfectly. And that would mean we are a playoff team in 2020, even without Machado or Harper.

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
As of this very moment, I like our chances of signing Manny. If offers haven’t even been submitted, I think we are in good shape.

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
Gotcha. Thanks. I’m guessing the reporting is BS (Dan Clark) because offers haven’t even been submitted yet.

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
Huh? Did you receive the text but hold off on reading it until you came here to post that message?

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
That was GREEDY’s point.

Machado: Update - Manny, do you officially like us?
Good find. Has this been discussed here yet? Looks like the video is from December 27, but it would be really interesting if Machado is waiting until after the new year to discuss financial terms with the three teams.

Offseason plan in the event the Sox don't get HarpChado
If we don’t sign either guy, fans have every right to label that as a failure by the front office. But I would rather have them be honest about going all in if they fail. I wouldn’t want them to fail and pretend all along that they weren’t really going after them.
-
Offseason plan in the event the Sox don't get HarpChado
Agreed. I’m not sure of the latter either. But do you have any idea why people keep saying that they wish Hahn and KW hadn’t said anything about trying to sign them?
-
Offseason plan in the event the Sox don't get HarpChado
I feel like the argument is shifting now, so let me go back to my original point. People here have continuously said that they wish Hahn and KW were not so upfront with saying they will try to sign Machado or Harper. My question isn’t about whether they actually have done everything in their power. That’s a separate discussion and separate argument. I want to know why people care that Hahn and KW were honest about trying to sign one of the whales.

Now I’m even more confused. You are saying you want words to mean something. So how could you not want them to be truthful on the direction and actions of the organization by saying they want to do everything in their power to sign those guys?

Offseason plan in the event the Sox don't get HarpChado
I guess I still don’t see anything wrong with making it clear that your focus and intentions are to try to sign Machado or Harper. Just so it doesn’t look like a failure if they sign elsewhere? Why does that matter?
-
Offseason plan in the event the Sox don't get HarpChado
But why is it a big deal that they didn’t say what you have in quotes? I fail to see anything wrong with letting people know you would try to sign Machado and Harper.

I’m not saying they weren’t going out. They absolutely have gone all out. I’m wondering why people are upset at the things they have said.
